Heard a rumor that Faction isn't paying Will Berman anymore or something like that. Does anyone know whats going on with that?

he was promoting them in the 5 questions. He's too good to just be getting skis.And has movie parts.

Ski companys love movies it’s great advertisement for them.

Older sprigs for example wasn’t competing just doing movie parts that weren’t “that big “ and getting a decent amount of money for skiing.

berman gets invited to camps every summer too and has filmed for a minute now I hope they kick him a little cash.

yeah I hope every film skier gets paid what they deserve but a ton don't. I guess I don't see any reason to think that Faction pays their skiers that much better than other companies do.

Nah, I guess he deserves to make a little money. He is promoting their brand which I guess in turn leads to more sales? Idk, Ive never bought a pair of skis because of who was on their pro team.

What I'm saying is that when one maks the choice to skip school, grow your hair out, and move to the mountains to booze and chief and send it on a daily basis (incredible lifestyle, don't get me wrong), they should accept that their prospects for earning any kind of income are severely deminsihed.

I'd think free gear and some help traveling to Europe to showcase your skiing ability in top shelf films would be enough for a lot of folks pursuing the mountain lifestyle.

Comes with the territory. Completely agree with everything you said, but I do wish the skill of the pro's was recognized and there was some payment that comes with it. Maybe after global warming stops... who knows

I'm with you man, I wish these dudes got paid more. It would be better for the sport as a whole if that were the case.

However, as you said, it comes with the territory. Moving to the mountains = going broke... that's just the way it's always been and likely how it always will be. That is something that I would hope everyone understands before they dedicate their life to freeskiing.

Tons of pros live in Salt Lake City though, which isn't a small mountain town. I think you're making it seem like becoming a partying ski bum is inherit in becoming a pro, which I don't think is true.

its a damn shame skiing isn't as big as skateboarding. Skateboard pros get the big bucks. But skiing is so niche and relatively small compared to other markets that there just isn't much money it for the pros

We often want to accuse companies of not paying the pros enough, but unfortunately the reality is the companies can't afford it. And neither can the film companies. In fact, no one in a Level 1 movie gets paid by Level 1. Rather L1 demands that the athletes' sponsors fork over some cash so they can get a spot in the movie. Crazy to think that at the end of a ski career all that's left is a beat up body & an empty bank account. There are of course few exceptions - I'd guess guys like Tom and Bobby do pretty well. Most of the pros are all passion and no cash. Someone get Tall T dan in here to talk about #stopskiing
