In the coming months we are planning on designing a new park ski to help fill the void in the park lineup that the Vice has left behind. We have a few ideas as to what we would like to produce, but thought it would be cool to get the input of you, the park skiers.
Whether you have specific things you would like to see in a new park ski (waist width, radius, rocker profiles, flex profiles, etc.), have a certain style of park ski you would like to see (big jump ski, soft fat buttery ski, new wave style ski, etc.) or have similar models from other ski companies that you enjoy riding, we would like to hear it.
Alternatively, if you have anything that you see being put into park skis that you are not a fan of, we'd also like to hear about it.
While we could just go straight into it and start designing, it'd be cool to see what your thoughts are.
If you want to stand out from the rest you could prioritize sidecut for those of us smaller skiers out there. As it stands now the majority of park skis change the sidecut tons between the sizes. Take a ski like the Volkl wall it's a 22m sidecut at the 180L and then it drops to a crazy short 16m in the 160 model. That really sucks for those of us who like a 20m+ but aren't large enough to ride a 180L ski. For me the only ski I can ride and get the sidecut I want in a 160L is the Atomic punx, since they are one of the few park skis out their that keeps a ~20m sidecut at every size.
I find that that sidecut is the most defining feature of a ski. I don't see how so many ski manufacturers can change the sidecut so dramatically between sizes and still call it the same ski. I can barely tell the difference between a 95 waist ski and a 105 waist ski, but the difference between skiing on 22m sidecut versus a 16m is glaring.
As for my other preferences, personally I'd like to see a 95ish waist ski with a fairly stiff camber zone, lots of effective edge so I don't have to size up to maintain stability, with a small amount of rocker in the tips, but not so much that I'm losing pop. If I could get all that with a 20m sidecut at a 165L I would be very very happy.
Wolf-HowlerYeah, I have been riding the ON3P magnus and I really love the massive amount of rocker in the tip. I understand it isn’t for everyone though
Pb&j already has a very comparable amount of tip rocker to the Magnus if not longer
Yeah, It's kinda hard to think of something that you can add to your line up, as fat park/allmountain spot is taken by PBJ, frankenski is kinda 90ish park ski, so what else... Maybe you need to remake frankenski with a new name in a 96-98 width, make it a touch softer (hate to say that) as there is definitely a trend going on with all this flexy skis like magnus or blends. Plus your skis were always a bit on a stiffer side. If you wish frankenski to remain, you can do the same ski as I described, but in a pbj/bibby mold.
hot.pocketStill working on it, got caught up with skiing trips and working on other specialty projects. Look out for it either late this season or early next season.
Any update on this, or any teasers on the direction you guys are headed with it?

The Magnus is actually quite stiff.

Still working on it, testing a softer PB&J styled ski this weekend.

Nice. Something with similar rocker profile and width as pb&j, but more butterable and designed so rec line is centered/almost centered sounds awesome.

Tested out the softer PB&J (for now called the PB&Jib), very fun version of the PB&J. -2 rec mount, easier to butter and screw around without sacrificing too much stability.
tcurle and I have significantly different riding styles (big jumps and going fast vs. small jumps and goofy butters) and we both thoroughly enjoyed them.
Very happy with the PB&J shape, might dial in some different flex patterns / mess around with composites in the coming weeks but we'll see. You could easily mount it dead center and still have a blast.
f100prerunnerthis^^ IMO going a few mm wider would be sick
Probably won't go wider than the 101 mm that the PB&J already has.
PataguccimaneI could see a new model going this direction, not more than 2-3mm wider but imo the pb&j is pretty money where its at width-wise.

Looked like you guys had a good time on them and made them look mad fun imo. I was that dude running around filming Cam trying not to get in your guys' way haha

130ish/100-110/120ish asymmetrical shape. something to compete with the marksman. Stand out from the normal and try to make skiing like snowboarding.
When I see someone keep their feet/skis together (cuban, stale, uncrossed mutes) and get a solid grab it takes a second glance to notice their on skis. The shape actually works like it says less catch on the pivot of a butter, along with that tight inside side-cut for tight situations.
But from the "Moment" design stand point the shape needs to resemble a coffin when the skis lay next to each other.
I know there is the PBJ and Deathwish to compete against the marksman. But the ski industry needs more funky shapes and designs.

Sorry if my stoned thoughts arent making sense.
Was about to say "how high are you?" Then I got to your last sentence.
Didn't read previous posts on this thread...huge fan of moment and this is why you guys are awesome.
As far as the ski...I feel like the market for soft noodly jibby skis is so crowded already. Would love to see a high performance park ski ~85 or so underfoot thats pretty dam stiff and can rip carves kinda like the old pipe cleaners from armada those were amazing skis. A little bit of rocker as well in the tip and tail (not a center mount maybe 1 or 2 rec mount back) and even the convex tips/tails could be really fun and add a little spice to the ski.

What you described is basically moment vice. Yeah, maybe it's a bit softer than pipe cleaners but everything else is on point

an updated vice would be awesome, a lot of people are describing what they think the new ski should be and are perfectly describing the pbj, which already exists

Kind of agree with this. A softer PB&J would be fun for sure but I feel like there's quite a lot of skis out there kind of like that right now. I'd really like to see a park ski that rips all mountain and is decently quick edge to edge, but still has some playfulness to it.
A Vice in the low-mid 90s could be pretty dope. I really liked that ski but it was just a bit narrow and maybe a touch too rockered for daily driver use. I guess I'd like to see a bit less taper, a bit less rocker so you still have an effective ski for ripping around but still have the playfulness for the park. Line's new Chronic is an interesting shape for that.

Pretty much had all this in the Vice minus the convex tip / tails.

Currently testing a softer PB&J (not noodle soft, but definitely softer than the current PB&J), tons of fun in the park but still holds up well across the mountain. We already have the all-mountain performance / park ski in the PB&J for those that ski 30% park and 70% all mountain, so a softer version would fit those that want to ski 70% park 30% all mountain.
Taking the Vice and making it slightly less tapered / rockered and wider and you'll end up at the PB&J. It's bumped up a little from the low-mid 90's, but that's essentially what you're describing.

Maybe that was what I was describing but if so I wasn't doing it very well. I was thinking more of a 92-93mm waist than 101 and significantly less rocker than the PB&J too. Basically, something aimed at someone who skis maybe 70% park 30% mountain, but somewhere with less frequently perfect conditions than the west coast. I don't think the ski needs of that bit of the market are very well catered for at present and there are a lot of people who ski places like that.

Might be a little late to this thread, but for a park ski I like low to mid 90's mm waist, full camber (maybe the slightest bit of early rise to make higher tips and tails), stiff under foot with slightly softer tips/tails, symmetrical sidecut and flex. Wood core. Fast, hard base, sidewall construction with THICK edges that have flanges. Would there be a way to have a thicker edge underfoot, tapering toward the tip and tail?
More pop than damp, but still a hint of dank.
Oh. And a length between 185-190 cm
I ski mostly in Canada within 80 miles of the Atlantic ocean, and when I'm on the east coast i ski 80-90% park, 75-120 days/year. I'm 6', 190 lbs.

When would this amazing PB&Jib ski drop. Sounds like a shit ton of fun to skirt around on. If you guys any need any testers, shoot my dm ;)

We have the Frankenski in out lineup at 92 underfoot which might fit the bill, and had the Vice around for quite a few years that kind of fits what you're describing. Unfortunately more or less full cambered skis are kind of out of style and would be difficult for us as a smaller company to move enough quantity to make it worthwhile to build.
The HG Stinger seems to be exactly what you're looking for though.

As stated above, unfortunately full camber park skis have gone out of style for the most part, and being a smaller company it would be very difficult for us to sell a quantity that would make it worthwhile to build. Similarly, the tapering of the edge is well outside our abilities right now. We will be making a 188 length though with full sidewall construction and a wood core.
-eREKTion-Y'all should throw the David Wise graphic on there, I thought it was super dope.
The David Wise graphic is actually an alternate colorway for the entire Meridian lineup for next season, shown below:

Gonna keep the testing in house, but look for a drop with the rest of the 2019 lineup in August.
