No one should get or use the DTS. It’s outdated and a big step down from any other option out there.

Spend the money on a T2 or T3, the DTS is outdated and not a reliable choice anymore.

DTS is an outdated and slow beacon. I won't ski with anyone that has one. Mt life isn't worth you cheaping out.

Anybody try the Mammut beacons? Was planning on getting a BCA T3 but can get a Mammut Barryvox S on the cheap as well. WIll still probably get the T3 but was wondering if anyone has used the mammuts?

Get the Barryvox S.

1. Lithium batteries. They last longer. You can't use them in many beacons.
2. Auto guidance. Allows it to not get confused by cross interference when on a search with multiple burials involved.
3. Longer range. 60m digital range. Thats tied at top of the market. (T3 has only 50m)
4. Pulse. If your partner also has the Barryvox S, or the older pulse, or the Arva Links, the beacon can PICK UP HEARTBEATS AND SHIT. Like, it will be able to tell if a buried victim is breathing - even down to their actual hearbeat, allowing you the very useful yet horrible information choice of picking which burial to go for (go for the victim which is for sure still alive). The Arva W link (which I have) has this feature disabled on it's own to "not confuse the user" according to arva, but maybe its because they really just don't want to give someone the shitty moral decision of going after one burial over another..
5. Very very fast speed. Maybe not as fast as th Pieps pro but still blazing fast.

If you still haven't picked one up yet the standard Barryvox (not the Barryvox S) is a super competent and fast beacon that just lacks some of the advanced features that the S does (pulse, more settings, personal info, etc). I just picked up a Barryvox after retiring my old Barryvox Opto 3000 and am loving it so after doing a few practice searches.

I've used the Opto 3000, Tracker 1, 2, 3, Barryvox Element, Ortovox S1+ (not recommended), and a few old analog ones along with my new Barryvox. The Barryvox and Tracker 2 and 3 are pretty noticably faster than the rest but the Barryvox is this year's technology and has a larger search area.

The Tracker 2 is a great beacon for a lot of people because it's fast, easy to use, and hard to mess it up.

Agreed with the crew that's hopping on the new Barryvox--mine is in the mail. I really like the flagging function and find it easier to use in multi burials than the signal suppression on the Trackers.

Still not sure on how I stand with the heart rate monitoring. I think it's a great idea but it could also be giving your homie a literal death sentence if for some reason it just wasn't picking up their pulse. That being said it's an interesting feature for sure, and would help streamline decision making in a rescue

It only works if everyone has the pulse function on their unit. The biggest thing is the 95m analog range coupled with 70m digital range.

If not the barryvox s,I recommend either the piepes pro or the arva axio. The pieps has a built in slope meter, and the axio has an I independent Z axis antennae
