Did your mountain build something sweet?

Did they build something ultra sketch?

Did you crash into a moose on the inrun to a rail?

How many beers have you chugged at the top of the park today?

Is the park crew disrespecting you by not putting your favorite feature in?


So many questions, to little time, and the season is already here!!!

TOAST.They are super hard to maintain especially if weather fluctuates a lot. Also it helps to have a park cat, which many mountains do not.


These days it's pretty necessary though. Other than the places that have like 3 boxes and a 10 foot jump. To at least have 1 dedicated park cat even if they work part of the day shift as well. And pick up another trail or two in their shift. I worked at a mtn for a while that didnt have a park cat, and the one guy barely even wanted to touch the park. Just a sketchy situation.

I guess it's doable when the day crew just kills it and rakes everything, even the jump takeoffs. Even then it's nice to be able to have snow added to this landing, the inrun of that releveled, etc without it being a giant ordeal.

At least it's getting better though

Yep. We have found some interesting old features lying around, like an aluminum handicap railing nailed to a 2x4 and a rail made out of house siding. The place must have been quite the sight lol

season has been going well, hoping to shuffle some features around soon to make grooming a bit easier (the “park cat” is a piece of crap with a barely working tiller)

At titcomb things have been going well, this warm spell really made the park great and we put in the rainbow rail I posted at the start of the thread

By park cat i meant the cat itself, like a bison x or park pro where the tiller goes near vertical. Those make tilling transitions much more doable meaning the all snow park stays nice instead of turning into icy piles.

Montana Snowbowl (my home mountain) probably has the most ultra sketch setup. Wish I had some pictures. Basically maintained once a month. Like 4 rail features and a hand built jump. Thank god the more drunk you get. The better the park gets right?

I think i hit it once like 6 years ago when i rode there. Maybe less idk. Wss in sleighride. Thing was sketch. Wish i saw it in stokes in lerson with the fap on to death kink.

Haha yeah havent been on the site in years but learning on those rails made everything else look tame haha the year they made that it was like soo far away from the jump and I ate shit because it was so steep

always worth a look. Doesn’t look THAT bad this year I guess. Anyone been up there this year? May stop by next week when I’m on break. Always loved gore’s terrain, and it always bums me out that their parks suck so badly. They have the real estate, snowmaking, and possibly funding (state run, look at windham and the $$ they put into their parks the past couple years)...

I've thought about going back there. I don't think they would ever be down with my demands even though they'd be super reasonable.

I would def rebuild a bunch of their stuff, get rid of the jibs for cribs boxes, and scrap that shitty shotgun rail.

they need to learn how to set up rails so they aren't shitty, and build jumps that aren't sketch though. Too bad johara was too prideful to take any help from whiteface when they were trying.

theyre actually not hard to maintain at all. We've had temps go from 70 degrees to 15 and snow in the last few weeks. zog them twice a week and theyre gucci. But the only thing we need a cutter for is a mini pipe and quarters. The only difference I notice between our piston bully 400 and our park pro is that the pro has 2 prongs that come out on the blade that help pick up features.I believe the blade might be wider and has more range of motion. But not having a park specific cat is not an excuse to not build one. All an all snow park is fuckin piles of snow lol. A regular cat is more than capable of making one.

Idk about PBs but the ram on the blade is setup differently on the bison and bison x. Also the tiller and blade can go higher higher and lower which is good for tight tranny stuff.

I know park pro have the switchblade, and tiller and blade go higher and lower, but not sure how else they differ. We bought a park pro for this year but I haven't run it yet. I guess we're getting 3 more next season. We're switching over out fleet for the most part.

Good ole spring conditions day in the park today. Pinball has 2 x 3 jump lines and a ton of rails. This is the 2nd jump in the lower 3 jump line.

Turoa Parks NZ is hiring for the summer/winter season if anyone is keen to get their summer shred on in the southern hem winter. Cool place to work and Tim is a good dude to work for. Job usually starts in mid to late june and runs through late october depending on snow.

Work holiday visas are pretty easy to get if you're under 30 and not a serial killer and can get 4k in your bank account by the time you leave. They didn't check my $ even though
i brought my banking details in case. I think because I had a job and knew where I was going to live.

Anyway it's a dope spot. Ohakune is fun. Check it out.

Breck does a good job with their park except for that its in the busiest part of the mountain and gappers go full send on stuff they shouldn't. I mean sure they build nice jumps but I have more fun half the time watching some jean skiier go full send on em.

Reasons why Keystones A-51 will always be home for me. Some days the whole mountain will be crowded but you pull up to the park chair and there's a max 5 minute wait lift time. Place is unreal

It's historically been shit, but low key wasn't bad this year. Problem is the park crew can't even hit their own features

Ive always toyed with the idea of going back having worked at oak, gore, and west for 10 years between em.

I dont think id ever even get them to agree to my demands anyway though.

Was last at Beaver Creek March 5th and there was zero features set up in the main park. I rode up with an employee that said the upper park is looking ok (he said there is a triple jump line similar to the first jump line at Breck). So yeah I'd assume they won't bother putting up the main park this year.

Vail Jumps: Golden Peak park is open. They have the double jump line with a small booter into a decent step-over jump. And One big jump that is pretty large/poppy - it's pretty well made but I think the landing is a little flat given how poppy it is.

Rails before the jumps: On the large line (skier's right) - DFD rail and a down rail with a donky dick. Medium line (middle) - flat down box and a flat down rail. Small line (skier's left): a medley of dance pads, small flat boxes, and a couple flat tubes with no step-ups needed.

Rails after the jumps: Large line (skiers right following the lone large booter) - a flat tube with no lip, a wall ride next to a flat-down rail with no lip, a parallel double rail (gap between the rails), a wide "burrito" tube. Medium line (bellow the double jump line) - right line has a rainbow box followed by a battleship box, left line has an a-frame box followed by a whale(?) box. After that there is a fun pole tap feature, a down rail, something I forget, and a skinny cannon rail.

Tl;dr: Vail's park is pretty good right now with a nice mix of features

Hiked a rail for the first time in my life a couple of weeks ago when I had mad shin bang and landed my first k-fed. I get that whole scene now, hiking a rail was hella fun.

Bummed my season is over and back to Aus, is anyone skiing any of the Aus hills for our season? I have a pass to Perisher and will probably be around the Buller park a fair bit in Victoria.

ye Perisher is a bit hard for me to get too being that im from Melbourne and normally ski Falls Creek, but i can try and head up like once or twice this season

That last day of work was fucking horrible. Didn't even give a fuck about trying to find out anything. IT had rained a ton and then we got some of the heaviest wettest snow on top soaking up even more moisture from that saturated base layer. Had 16 inches I think. It was a total shit show digging out features and trying to make the park look good again. Actually got some nice passes and made things look decent but it was super aggravating/stressful. I doubt there was even anyone riding parks that day but you still gotta get it done.

Hoping everything been salvaged by now so when I go in tonight it's mellow. I'll see what I can find out. I'm just usually seeing the guys that would know in passing as they're trying to get the fuck out, and I'm trying to figure out a plan for the night. Not always the best time, especially in shit show whether.

But yeah. I'm curious as well. I know some of the guys currently working for SPt but not well enough to blow them up asking. So I figure through the guys at work is my best bet. But yeah, hopefully I'll find some deetz.

To the dudes from Aus: I was at Thredbo last season so I'll probably make at least a couple of trips from Melbourne to Perisher to hang with the homies in Jindy this season, I also was thinking of entering freeride on the Bluff. If you need a lift from Melbourne I might have a spare seat when I head up, but yeah I'll try to figure out when I'm heading up a bit closer and we should hit each other up (:.

I'm still a student, so I get cheap tix on tues/wed at Buller, I haven't really skie'd there for a couple of years, how is the park there? I remember them having a 20/30ft jump? And some ok rails? I'll definitely be heading up as much as I can. I'm heaps down for some carpool action to spread the costs out.
