theabortionatorYeah,short staffed and hours. We have a 6 swing and 5 grave park ops so wasnt much for hours when we had a hikeable park open last month and then a longer but still short park last 2 weeks.

Now our biggest park is open, small park partially open, bottom park still going, and more soon hopefully. Pretty over snowmaking atm lol.

Will you guys put some of the bigger features in your other parks or are they done?

evan.millspaughYeah our park is to the point where it needs work. If u watch the vids u will see. 5-7 years ago we had a solid park, huge features. Im talking like 40 foot rails and big booters like 50 ft or more. Our mountain has now decided to cut their long rails into 7-10 foot sections and they barely put anything in anymore

The.FishI am in college, but just home for the holidays. They don’t take volunteers for builds which is so stupid because it is free labor. They just put in a 10 ft down bar that has a lip which is 2 inches taller than the rail. Like that is common sense stuff.

evan.millspaughStill waiting for the clip and also thats basically just throwing a 5 with a rail tap. And my point is not that you cant do anything off small features because that is true. My point is that the tiny features are not great for the progression of riders. You dont really learn to properly lock onto rails when you are learning on tiny features. You learn more how to throw yourself onto the rail and slide it rather than using proper form. Then when these beginners try bigger, more advanced rails then its frustrating because it actually requires the proper form. Tiny features dont really allow for proper learning

sauceboss420Buckhill is building the pipe right about now, not big on pipe but its kinda cool, not too many mountains got one.

pinkcamo1000halfpipes died because of the 22' superpipe. It seems like smaller ski areas aren't able to groom a pipe regularly for whatever reason, which was fine when halfpipes were 15' or less. I've been watching a lot of ski videos from the late 90s recently and everyone throws down on like 12' pipes that look totally fucked. My home mountain had a sick little halfpipe growing up that was usually far from perfect but you could still shred it. The mountains snowmaking was worse than it is now but they still managed to open it most years. Then they hosted the Canada Games, had to turn it into a 22' (or maybe 18'?) pipe, built it once, and then never built it again. This summer they bulldozed the pipe so it's gone for good. A 22' pipe is simply way too dangerous if it isn't absolutely perfect, and most mountains don't have the resources to keep a huge pipe like that safe to ride. Also they are terrifying regardless of their condition lol

TrickyDick470Random complaint here, but I hate when park crews make lips to rainbow boxes/rails not match the pitch of the front of the feature so you slam into to the front of it. Ideally I should be able to gently slide or even air over it.

theabortionatorCurious what the fuck is going down at Snowpark Nessalwang. Almost worked there a few years ago but my visa didn't come through in time.

They changed their profile and cover photos to a black box on facebook and posted some sort of rant about having to cancel all the contests, not sure exactly what's up though. Similar situation on their website.

I asked a friend that works there but he still hasn't gotten back to me.
