Patching pants

Put a hole in the knee of my ski pants last season. Its not super big, and I'd like to fix it cause they're dope pants and I can't afford new ones. Any of you guys know any ways to fix this while retaining decent waterproofing?

cut a patch out of some other old waterproof clothing, sew it on, seal stitches with seam glue
