The beginning of this thread made some good points. Subarus can be very dependable vehicles if maintenance has been kept up with, especially non-turbo models. You begin running into issues when you stop taking care of maintenance items and start bolting up mods without the proper tuning. Subarus have a great aftermarket parts market, so its easy for people to upgrade bolt ons. However I feel like a lot of people dont realize that even simple mods like an intake require tuning, and BOVs aren't meant for cars with MAF.
I daily a 2004 FXT 5mt. Rebuilt at 150k, 3in invidia TBE, catless uppipe, wrx wagon suspension, ect ect. I had it dyno tuned and it put down 252awhp/300ft at 16 psi on the stock td04. I've put 30k on it since the rebuild and just crossed the country NH>OR in it last week with no major hiccups.
