Anyone else a proud subie owner?? Just got my 2011 wrx hatch last year and its a beast in the snow. I have a few mods just stage 1+, coilovers, Volk wheels (yeah authentic af), Invidia q300, and of course oil catch can.

I bought my Forester from my mother in law so i guess that make it my bro in law. I bought a set of steel wheels and studless snow tires. When I bolt those things on I can drive straight up Mt. Hood in a snow storm.

cheap Subarus are not good cars Imo. get a old Toyota r4unner or pickup. they last forever

How does that work? Do you live in a city?

Depends what you want. Outbacks are probably the best value but I prefer the foresters on the older cars.

Yeah I live 15km from the capital's downtown and if I really need a car I just borrow it from someone or lease. But I actually see a shitload of Subaru's around here for some reason and that got me interested. Probably a wholly different price range in the US with cars than here though.

If a subaru is well maintained, it's a great vehicle. The problem is they get neglected as they get older and things like head gaskets bust at like 150k miles and no one wants to pay to fix it. If you maintain your subaru as recommend, including just replacing head gaskets ahead of time, other sorts of preventative work, you can put 300k on subi.

Meh. Like any car, maintain it. If you buy a car, sometimes it needs things fixed. If you neglect everything, put nothing in, you're gonna have a bad time. Especially timing belt, head gaskets.

06 wrx, full sti swapped, built motor, rotated turbo and everything that comes along with that, track suspension, etc. Lots of goodies. I love the car to death, but man daily driving it can get old sometimes.

The Forester is, hatchbacks help for sure too. I had a sedan so even though it was a legacy, it still felt really small. Crosstreks are tiny too, basically an impreza. I bought a Tacoma and ive been extremely happy with having more space and still having a midsided vehicle.

I was actually just making a chubby joke, but I totally agree. You really need a bike rack or roof box or both if you're gonna get a crosstrek or legacy sedan.

i can fit my skis and my bike in the back of my Outback tho:)
tacomas are nice... been looking at one for a minute now. Having a truck, even if it's a smaller one, would be so nice for work/play.

those crostrek xv are sexy tho

Yeah i mean the legacy was fine, i was very comfortable in it, but with more than 3 people a trip was hell, i did 4 people trips very often though haha it always worked just was cramped. Taco is a comfortable 4 with tons of equipment. If you get one, definitely get the long bed no question and double cab is the only option if you plan on ever driving with more than 2 people.

Tons of double cab long beds when i looked. Definitely had to do some searching but i was also looking at new cars. The extended cab is tiny but could work if you're not driving people around alot.

Well yeah they're expensive for sure, Tacomas really hold their value which made it even easier for me to buy one.

Thanks man. The sti swap I did was actually before I built the motor. Swapped the entire sti drivetrain besides the motor. So transmission, diff, axles, brakes, etc. all of it.

The motors got forged internals and some head work. It's a long expensive road to start mucking with motor internals, but it's fun when it's done. Just find a super reputable tuner.

Oh man, yeah doing that on a high horsepower build hurts the wallet, that's for sure. Gas ain't cheap and putting lots of miles on a built motor isn't a great idea. That's why I've got a commuter car on the side

Same well almost, I plan on buying a cheap lexus and using it as a car to get me to the mountains and back. I would get another subie but most are already trashed.

Got an 05 outback wagon 5 spd this summer and have loved it. Drove 6,000+ miles with my girlfriend and all our belongings from VT to WA this August. Does surprisingly well off road too which I love and the stick makes it way more fun. Just wish I had the xt or H6. It's stupid rusty so I'm not sure how many years I'll get out of it but for $5k I'm sure I'll get my money's worth. I love working on cars so I don't mind the maintenance. My wallet might though.

It's lighter than an STI too.

Been looking for a LGT or an OBXT for a while now but I'm very particular and there isn't any good ones in my area.

Foubd a Spec B for 8k but it's racecar and not street legal :(
