Is there a camera that shoots 1080p 120fps that is under 1000 bucks?

Not a DSLR but the Hero 6 Black shoots 1080 at 240fps or 2.7k at 120 or 4k at 60. Might not be what you're looking for but it's only $500.

I agree with bigsamy, if you remove the fisheye in post and learn to color grade well, you can get some awesome results.

Please Don't get a GoPro and pretty please don't color trade GoPro footy. From my point of view if you already have an iPhone or whatever that shoots 1080p 120fps (iPhone se 6s 6s+ 7 7+ etc) if your not down with phone footy get a Nikon d3300 or 5300, both 1080p 60fps and that works great for slomo. And ask yourself this: can my computer really edit 1080 120 smoothly? If the answer is no then even if you get something with that you'll never want to use it because it's such a pain to edit. If you want to go the micro 4/3 route get maybe. Gh2 Or gh3 any of those Panasonic cameras really work lol. But GoPros are just one trick ponies and if you ever want to get a shot that's not distorted and has many other uses such as taking good pictures and having lens options go with a dslr. Just don't get the canon line up entry level dslrs, they only have 720 60. If you're worried about color grading and etc just search on YouTube how to shoot in a flat picture profile on -insert camera model here- and then color as you please in da Vinci resolve. Or if you want point and shoot Sony rx100s do that too and pretty much all the other Sony point and shoots haha.

Just to clarify my GoPro suggestion. It is a one trick pony. But it is very good at that one trick. I shoot on a Sony a6000 usually with either a Rokinon 12mm or a Sigma 30mm. My friend that I shoot with usually uses a GH4 with a Sigma 15-35mm or a Canon 6D for stills. They're all great cameras and perform well but all have issues. My a6000 isn't weather sealed so I always have to be careful with it in the snow. I keep it in a dry bag when I'm not using it. Gimbals for full size or even mirorless cameras are expensive so I use a glidecam. Glidecams are harder to use than gimbals. GoPros are both waterproof and good gimbals and other accessories are cheap. It has far less versatility because it's smaller, cheaper, and only has one lens. But, if the only thing you really want to do with it is shoot high quality action sports footage, the bang for your buck is amazing. If you want more versatility I'd probably go with a Sony alpha series. If you have the money the A7rII is great or the 6300 or 6500. Also the GH4 is coming down in price with the release of the GH6. That said, the cheapest of those is the a6000, which without a lens is $500-$600. Also realize if you buy one of those cameras you also need to buy accessories. At the very least, a lens, camera bag/dry bag/both, and probably a tripod. Also a backpack to carry it in while you ski. So it really comes down to what you want your setup to feel like.

I have to admit, Iphones are capable of getting good footage if you can get creative.

The GH5, not 6. Heres my 2 cents:

You're never really going to need 120fps for slo-mo, unless its a very specific slo-mo shot.. If you learn how to film correctly, 60fps is perfect for slomoing skiing footage. You're not going to find a cam under a grand that will shoot 1080 120fps without some kind of drawback. The GH4 shoots 96fps, but its dedicated slo-mo and there is no audio. The GoPro is really the only suggestible camera that will shoot 1080 120, but its such a limited format and 90% of the time, it look amateur and overused. If you're just shooting skiing stuff, invest in a gopro or something that can shoot 1080 60. If you're a filmmaker (like myself), invest in a GH4, its perfect to use for skiing but its also been used in hollywood caliber films.

Yeah even the hero 5 will shoot 1080p 120, but you get the fish eye and you're using a gopro ,so I'd just go with like a Sony FDRX3000 you get the specs you're looking for with way more compatibility. In terms of DSLR that's pretty much out of the price range unless you find a killer deal.

I have the A6500 and highly recommend it.

I pulled the trigger on a Sony Rx100iv earlier this summer after finding a great deal on ebay, does all the way up to 960fps (total overkill of course), but can do 240fps in 1080p I believe, and been pretty impressed with the results of the first few days filming on the hill with it. Autofocus is incredibly fast and has some other great features too. That said, I regret not saving another hundred dollars or so and getting a A6300. The rx100 series doesn't have interchangeable lenses and really restricts what shots you can get.

Check out the Sony rx10. I have had a little hands on with this camera and was impressed in the short time I was using it. It doesn't have an interchangeable lens but the 24-200 f/2.8 lens has a vario zoom that makes it a mix between a dslr and camcorder. Shoots 4k at 30 fps, 1080 up to 960 fps.
I was originally turned onto this camera by some media people at Red Bull Rampage two years ago. A pink bike video guy and another video shooter said they both sold their Fs700's when this camera came out and they have been stoked on the decision ever since.
