Replying to Time To Head North

I'm an American who's fed up with living in a shit country, I want out. I think I'm going to try and get a work visa and check out skiing in the Canadian rockies for a season (preferably Fernie, Kicking Horse, or Revelstoke), and if I like it I want to try and become a citizen. Any advice on where to start as far as finding a job / place to live / etc.? Most of my work experience is in the hospitality & food service industry, but I'm down to work pretty much any job that gives me time to ski.
