Where to mount?

What’s up NS, I would appreciate the help in making this decision. I live in Michigan and ski park 9/10 times. Sometimes I like to head north and rip some hills but you get the idea, I snagged some 181 kartel 98s and was wondering, should I be mounting these true center? Or should I be mounting them -1 or possibly even farther? I’ve always mounted my skis center other than some pow skis. Let me know what the best riding mount for you is, id like to know if you guys prefer -1 over center. Thanks

One of the ON3P guys will probably chime in here sometime....but I am not a fan of mounting center in anything other than fully symmetrical skis. Ruins the carving abilities, and the overall performance of the ski.

Even when I lived back in South Dakota this was the case. Especially on something like a K98 I would suggest going a little back.

Yeah I was a dead center or die guy for a long time, but recently I’ve realized that ruins a lot about a ski that isn’t designed to be mounted there.

Been a big fan of he progressive mount (I think the first one I did was a pollard’s progresssive mount) and I’ve stuck with that. It’s around 1 Back or something?

basically though I stick to what the manufacturer suggests as the progressive mount vs the standard mount.

2 to 2.5 back of center on the kartel. You'll be happy there. I agree with the people above, true center is only worth it on a symmetrycal ski.

Go one or two cm back for everything including the park. Unless you ride a ski meant to be mounted center. Those skis usually suck IMO.
