Spring Break Ski trip to Mammoth

Mammoth is cool for a solo trip. I went down for the first time in June and I stayed at the Davisson St Hostel. Spendy for a hostel but seemed cheap for Mammoth. Place was chill and had a nice kitchen and I think I got a brand new mattress. Met a guy on TGR that showed me around including some sick boot packs and met a guy on the tram that showed me some sick runs too. Place is like a natural wonder of the world and the ski area is fucking awesome. Have a blast!

Mammoth is super sick. I'm there about 3 weekends a month and it is one of the best mountains on the continent. April is usually a good time, the base should be good by then. You often get great slush turns in April, fun for the great steep terrain that Mammoth has. Pow days are not uncommon in April, there is almost always a couple of big storm cycles. I'm not a big park guy, but skiing slushy park/pipe laps is a blast, and the park is usually pretty dialed in April. After February and March April is probably my favorite month at Mammoth. Have fun!

You will have a blast in Mammoth. I lived there for ten years and hope to move back soon. The Davidson Hostel is a good recommendation, but there is also the Modern Hostel. Either way you will meet lots of people, especially over spring break. There is free public transit in town so getting around will not be a problem, especially if you stay at Modern Hostel. It is right near the village where you've got free gondola access to Canyon Lodge. My friend has created a site detailing great places to ride and eat at a bunch of different top resorts. If you have any friends who attend USC, LMU, or UCLA, they all have freeski teams with housing up there.
