Has it always been around or is it actually new? Is doing a pre-existing trick just in a different style and then renaming it an actual new trick? I don't know. Tell me what you think.

skiing is skiing, it doesn't matter what kind of tricks your doing. "new wave" is fake news.

Was thinking about this the other day. I think the "New Wave" style is really the antithesis of "Spin to Win" phase of skiing.

Yet, NS will complain about quad corks and bunch bounces simultaneously.

Every time you go skiing it's a new experience. So yeah that new fresh feeling is a lot of the reason for skiing in the first place. Who cares if people have been skiing and waving their arms for hundreds of years. It's all new right now!

New wave is a really bad attempt to ski like Phil Casabon mixed with a little bit of Mike Hornbeck, Max Hill, and Jossi Wells for good measure.

I have yet to see a single skier who focuses on "big lines" who skis on the new wave style when in the park. Most of those guys have very classic styles with a big, generally uncreative trick bag (not a bad thing, I prefer classic, relatively tech park edits over new wave)

Who the fuck cares any more. just fucking ski cuz you like to ski and do it in a way you like. fuck the haters and fuck everyone trying to fit skiing into a confined box. go skiing with you friends and do a k fed. not cuz its fucking cool or trendy but because you are having a fun with your friends.

Granted, but don't get assmad when people say you look wack with flaily arms and such. Stylish has always been confined with smooth (and sometimes personal) execution, no matter where you look in the action sports universe or even in larger scale.

I've watched a few of these Bunch videos now and while some of the things Magnus Graner does are insane, they're not very smooth or stylish. Reminds me of an urban Charlie Ager. But maybe there will be progression in this type of flailing as well and it will be toned down as they improve more and more.

nah when I think of smooth styles magnus is like the last to come to mind, he's more spontaneous/unpredictable (and imo my least favourite style in the bunch when hes not using poles). that said smoothness isnt the sole determination of style either

I admit there's a pretty weird juxtaposition of both control and seeming like one is out of control, but by universal standards saying that flailing around like you look out of control is stylish and smooth is an oxymoron. The key issue is that this guy is a really talented skier and probably could be as smooth and stylish as he wanted, just chooses not to be. Even with that it's not too hard to understand why some people might look at it at as uncouth and you should just take it as it is - an opinion, fecal or not.
