Youtube channel for skiing

Hey NS
I'm planning on starting a YT channel for the coming season. I wanted to hear from people to see what type of content people want to see the most, or content that we normally dont get to see.

-Skits, like trollin’ , maybe shorter in length?
-Blogs or Vlogs?
-Trick tips. Real ones that involve skiers who specialize in something specific, not just
“How to Zero Spin”
Take off the jump backwards and land backwards

-Live streams from PC or wherever I end up?
Top to bottom runs
10-15 minutes with other skiers
Streaming while watching big events like dew tour and xgames?
-Interviews?
-Reactions to other peoples edits, or ski movies?
-Critiquing videos that you guys send me?

Or is this just a weak idea not worth pursuing?

Let me know and definitely post ideas that you think would be cool,
Paul and Zane and I want to get started

This would be pretty dope, I'd definitely give it a watch I think all that stuff would be interesting. The gram where you were commenting on the NS videos was funny as shit, would for sure watch some more of those. Streaming at different hills and events would be cool to see as well.

Something like "Everyday Lines". Resort focused, very little cuts or editing, lines that normally aren't done. not much stopping.

oh yeah ive always thought a long running ski day just streaming it would be sick. just go about your normal shredding but stream it. desk jockeys like me can leave it on and kinda pretend we're not office drones

I think this has a lot of potential. Take a look at braille in skateboarding, "real" skaters will tell you its irrelevant trash (and tbh it is pretty click baity and annoying and i kind of agree with those people) but the amount of interest its generated in skating from non-skaters is huge, imagine the kind of impact that could have on skiing.

You've got a pretty good list up their so far. maybe toss in traditional edits every once in a while to of local riders you think should get more exposure, idk. The key to youtube is consistent content, so if you can commit to it I think it would be sick either way.

EXACTLY what I was thinking. You could probably do a combination of each of those topics you included above.

I agree, for example take a look at Scotty Cranmer on youtube. He has completely blown up, and I have never been into bmx in my life, now i am, I even bought a bike. Now if there was a channel like his based around skiing I think that would insane. They key is having both something that the died hard skiers can watch and enjoy along with those who have never clicked into bindings before.

All of these are good! YouTube lacks skiing channels, especially edit-type ones because all of the edits are on here. Trick tips would be dope too there’s not too many channels that do those.

10-12 minutes is money

Interviews and especially reactions/critiquing edits, I think there's a real demand for that sort of thing now. I toyed with the idea a bit in Instagram but didn't run with it. I think you've got the personality to pull it off in longer videos.

I was just thinking about this how there are a lot of people vlogging in different sports but I don't know any skier to be doing such things.

I think vlogs and sometimes some tutorial clips is a good way to start, but as some people said, you must be consistent, maybe an upload every 3-4 days so you can gather some footage for 10-15 min videos. Such vlogs can really attract the attention to some non-skiers aswell and get them into the sport and you will also entertain us as skiers, seeing what it's like to be living the pro's life.

Also this. I 100% agree there are athletes from many different sports with creative YouTube channels that have blown up! Lots of potential with all this, would be great some great content.

All of that content sounds great.

Just to pick one thing you mentioned and flesh it out:

It would be cool for you to stream contests like x games, dew tour, olympics etc. and even maybe FWT. You could do a twitch style deal where your mug is on webcam bottom corner with the event taking up a big slice of the screen. You could do commentary and interact with viewers live and react to tricks and runs. You could do it as goofy as you want, or do it semi-seriously and just break down what you're seeing and go back and forth with viewers. Hell you could play a drinking game where you take a shot every time someone dub 12s.

As for shorter skits, I think it's a great idea. Have you seen that guy la turtle where he does short vids of himself having conversations with himself playing different characters. You could do that on hill with funny circumstances like waiting to drop in to a jump line and doing the "you go" switch to other character "nah bro it's chill you go" switch back to original....just a dumb quick idea but parodying typical situations on the mountain where it's really short and easy to edit would be funny.

Live stream urban builds and sessions could be cool too. Maybe watch your favorite old ski flicks and commentate them and pause and talk about specific moments or trips or how a certain part inspired you or even watch old 4bi9 movies and give insight

I think you would absolutely fucking kill it with this channel and please keep us updated I'll follow right away.

Keep doing Trollin’ type shit but don’t worry about making the best shit out. Like the Traveling Circus. They used to make the best edits ever and their shit was the best because they released so many. Then they switched to doing mini-movies in season 8 which was stupid. That’s not what the people want.

If you do a funny 8-or-so minute video every single week of skiing at different places or doing different ski-related shit but make it very Trollin’ style and maybe put a little skit in it every now and then, you will fucken blow up.
Best idea I’ve heard in a while and I seriously hope this goes ahead.

All of these are rad ideas, would definitely subscribe! Youtube needs a good skiing channel. Would love to see segment where you teach an amateur park skier how to do a relatively easy trick that they want to do. Kind of like the skate supports on the Braille youtube channel.

Always thought it would be cool if someone did a series travelling round resorts finding the best "unknown" locals who are not sponsored or pro and skiing with them. Could have little interviews etc. Its hard for some guys to get exposure and I would watch this for sure as its way more relatable.

For mountain biking, I really like the content Seth from Seth's Bike Hacks puts out. It is a good variety of tips, trip logs, product reviews, and interviews. Alternatively, the guys at IFHT put some pretty great stuff out on their channel.
