Skiing is such an integral part of my life, that if my girlfriend didn't ski, I would never see her. It might work out for a little bit, but eventually it would cause drama due to us not spending a lot of our free time together. She doesn't need to shred, but she at least needs to be able to ski decently well enough.

you are mistaken if you aren't looking for a soulmate who is the polar opposite of you in almost every way. you are narcissistic, probably. find someone who will challenge you. if they happen to ski, that's a plus.

You do it your damn self before you go skiing like a responsible adult. The same way you make your own food because you'll probably end up lonely and starving.

just make sure you have the same pass, my ex did not and the second year we ended up splitting as it became work just to see eachother, which it shouldn't have been with both of us being skiers.

For me, I want my girlfriend to be my best friend. If we're not spending time together, I will be spending it with someone else or she will. In my experience, that is what often drives people apart or causes them to be interested in other people. YMMV

I guess thats fair but the last one never gave me a chance to breathe. she was my best friend but still. theres a balance but time apart woulda been good for me at least

Yeah i would. I mean I can always teach my partner to ski and if they don't want to it will just have to get over the fact that I do. My last partner didn't ski at all. But hey she learned and it was a lot of fun teaching her. I recently came out as bisexual but my ex girlfriend had no idea what snow was let alone skiing. She was from Haiti so she wasn't accustomed to winder at all (a lot of my friends were weird about it but I read a good article that I liked and convinced me to date the woman: https://idateadvice.com/the-pros-and-cons-of-dating-haitian-women). I thought her how to ski and snowboard. So yeah I think it's fun

TheSmokinLOne time ever I tride dating 1 non skier and tried to get them to learn. I didn't realize that some people don't want to learn... even after they make you help them get ski gear, bindings (GAVE THEM my fks pivots), the whole kit. Got pissed if I left town to go ride on weekends, guilt trips, shaming me.
Quality of life was shit. I'd take it all back if I could.

Ive only ever dated skiers and one snowboarder (bc it matters ok).
MUCH better for my health and livelihood. They ride hard and drink and have fun. You get to know their friends so going different ways some weekends is cool when eveyone is a homie and you can meet up later.
I'll never date another non rider.

Ya I’ve tried everything to accommodate and teach , some people aren’t meant to , for me , she has a true fear and mindset that she “can’t learn “ so I’m always basically alone 🤷🏼‍♂️

Last winter I was dating a girl who skied but wasn't a good skier. We went skiing together once and I failed to act like I wasn't bored. We slept in a lot most weekend mornings and I missed a lot of skiing because I was horny.

I think I'd rather date someone who doesn't ski, because having solo skiing as an outlet for individuality, and maintaining the relationships with my ski buddies is very important to me. Although if I were to meet someone who was a good match for me and also was a good skier but who had her own crew of ski buddies so we aren't spending every ski day together that would be ideal

Yes and no. My last two ex's werent skiers but I was just a shitty bf and know where i fucked up both times so it had nothing to do with skiing.

I also say no because its fine if your partner isnt an outdoor sports-minded person and values those lifestyles because it would be fun getting them into it assuming they were down with it, but you got problems if you both see differently; like the things i didnt really like about my ex's at all were they didn't really seem to stoked on trying any outdoorsy stuff when offered so thats when my interest started to fade. if you dont at least want to go hiking or something then its definitely not gonna work. Not everyone wants to stay home and watch the same shitty sitcoms every night or get shitcanned at divebars in the city

I think Skiing with a girlfriend is a strain on the relationship so better to get one that doesn't ski, just me.

Once it starts getting cold stupid bitch drama has a way of mattering a whole lot less. Its also impossible to respect a fat chick during ski season. They become subhuman.

Poor girls who like hiking but had no access to skiing are the exception here. They often deserve to be given a pass. But go alone noone wants to sit in the damn lodge and FT them drunk as fuck from your condo after a day shredding to make them jelly.

I've had a great winter because I ended some things in October. One chick I was seeing got us kicked out of the club before Dillon Francis came on for being too drunk. Imagine spending NYE in Boston with her...fuck that I'm gonna be at Dillon Francis in San Francisco after skiing heavily all December!

To me a girl has to be at least able to ski or be able to accept that most of my holidays and weekends will be used for skiing and hiking. I do not want to give up hobbies over a relationship which is statistically not going to last long at my age.

I invited a gal from tinder to come ski for a day as the first date. Turns out she rips. Went on a 7day hike in the dolomites this summer with a tent, cooker etc. She has never done anything even close to it. But the absolute hype i saw in her face when we reached the next summit. It's has been an absolute blast getting her into more outdoorsy things and seeing her enjoying herself.

It's been 7 months and going.
