Replying to Moisture in my skis

im using an old pair of skis with some chips in the topsheet for a summer setup and after using them, i wipe them down with wet paper towels to get rid of any dirt and then dry them off with dry paper towels. i dont know much about skis and ski anatomy, but i know that moisture in the skis from cracks or deep nicks in the base can mess up the core, so im wondering if that applies to moisture getting in from the topsheet? my skis are pretty banged up, but i still wanna use them in the future so i dont want them coming apart anytime soon.
