my buddy has some family that live in a small town give or take 30/20 minutes outside of nelson and they are pretty chill so me and him where planning to head up there sometime this season, and obviously ski whitewater. I have never been there, whats it like??

seancullenPowder Mountain Utah. You can always get freshies at this place whole mountain feels like an OB trip untouched terrain and basically no one else on the mountain

I'm gunna try and check that place out this season. I get 3 free days wth my copper pass.

best tree skiing I've ever done, tons of pow, few people, easy access side country, chill vibe. It's a super playful mountain; there's always something to take air off.

St Anton am Arlberg in Austria - huge amount of backcountry terrain and great skibum / party atmosphere.Pretty good value compared to large French resorts.

Downside is that the snowpark isn't amazing - 2 hours drive to Laax though which must be one of the best parks around.

TheSmokinLMan I love squaw. More or less meant like, it's not the hill that throws out major ski edits or anything. Its top 3 of my fav mtns.


Historically Squaw is probably the most filmed ski area in the U.S. It was featured in Tight Loose (TGR's from this year) and it will be in the MSP film from this year. You might not see park edits coming from there, but honestly who gives fuck. There are also plenty of edits on Unofficial and other places that come from Squaw, people skiing some of the best big mountain terrain out there. Do you only look at edits from the park?

Small mountain of Bear Valley in Bear Valley, CA. Just across the mokelumne canyon from Kirkwood. Not the biggest mountain but its home haha, pretty playful terrain and has its share of gnarly stuff too, all without the hubbub of Tahoe.

Other than that I'd have to say Alpine/Squaw as I've spent my past season there while going to UNR. So much damn fun when its not so busy that I can't even get more than 5 laps in a day.

Haha man I'm not trying to turn this into a huge discussion. Squaw is a great mountain which I stated in the first place under this "Fav Mtns" thread.
I enjoy park edits the most, however I do dabble in all mtn videos as well. Is that better for you? Mcdoyle rules and neither of us are gonna make the eagles this year.

Lake louise is for sure reslly sick, super great for everything. Super sick park and also some intense big mtn runs. A super underrated hill is for sure castle mountain. Every time I've been there there's been a more then a foot of powder and the hill has such good vibes. Also of course whitewater, probably the best hill in Canada.

Ohio: This state sucks ass. Don't ski here

New York: Whiteface (Lake Placid is a dope town too)

New Hampshire: Gunstock

West Virginia: Silvercreek. Way better than Snowshoe.


Are silvercreeks parks really better? I’ve heard a lot of good things from snowshoe. I might go down to snowshoe with my dad this winter while he’s working down there.

If silvercreek is fully open or close to it, then they usually have a way better setup than snowshoe. Last time I was there (2014-15 season) their big park was better than the alley. Their jumps are really fucking weird though. But they have some really sick rails to make up for it.

They have no lips so it's basically just like hitting a 10 foot drop. Apparently the same guy who does their bike park shapes the jumps

Bird is amazing . Jackson is amazing but word got out and it feels like a paradise lost when you are 7 boxes deep in line at 8:15. A basin forever. Snow ghost lift at Schweitzer is terrible never go there.

Park_RangerEverything about that place is facade created in corporate marketing meetings, with the goal being to get people from all over the world to come and rent skis so that the bottom line can be driven up for wall street. Enjoy!


This should be an example for what being jaded sounds like in a textbook. Breck is an amazing place. Of course its corporate, and 6 chair can get real frustrating on a pow day. But the reason Breck "sucks" isn't because of some Vail boardroom, it's cause too damn many people love that place.

Snowbird is doooooooope. I grew up skiing Snowbasin so I have a soft spot for that mountain as well. Never too crowded, and there's some really sick lift-accessible side country.

Colorado:
Best Park: Copper or Keystone
Best Big Mountain Terrain: Winter Park or Crested Butte
Most people think crested has the best but some years like nothing opens, winter park never gets any cred smh, they have a super dope parks, half pipe is shit tho, and they have dope cliffs and trees and wayyyyy more snow than Crested, winter park doesn't show many cliffs marked but if you go into the tree patches you'll find a ton

Springs has a way better rail setup but that's comparing apples to oranges. Silvercreek has some really fun rails that you would never really see at Springs. Last time I was there they had a 50 foot down rail that was super close to the ground but it was still so much fun to session

Favorite mountain is by far Brundage mountain in McCall Idaho... Definitley not the most technical or biggest mountain, but its certainly not small either... Ive had all of my best days skiing there, wether its waist deep powder in the backcountry that only the locals seem to know, or closing day shenanigans with costumes and pond skimming, just an overall great vibe from everyone too, never a bad day on these slopes
