Just such an authentic, mountain town vibe. Really nice to get up there and escape city life, ya know?
Plus the mountain is always really fast, they get tons of POW, lift lines are usually not bad compared to other places.
Tons of people ride park out there and everyone is super nice to each other and are always willing to help out. Seriously, no clickiness or bro brahh bruhhhh in the scene up that way.
Oh, and pretty affordable too!
cawille^ Couldn't have said it better, and don't know how I forgot to mention how cool the town was. Being out there makes me never want to ski the east coast ever again...
Park_RangerYikes... this is awkward

sickskiCrested Butte, Winter Park or Grand Targhee.
I can't believe no one has mentioned winter park or targhee yet, winter park always has a super sick setup, and targhee is often overlooked being so close to Jackson, but there set up last year was pretty dope, they had stairs, FUCKING STAIRS.
TheSmokinLWinter park is def underrated. I love their terrain.

TheSmokinLSquaw valley is a gem for the west I think. One of the more low key resorts. Jackson is undeniably awesome for all mtn. But I want to ride mammoth some day.
dan4060Squallywood is low key?? I hope you are being sarcastic. I love Squaw, I spent half a decade ski bumming there, my all-time favorite mountain, but I would not call it low key. Sick steeps and cliffs, but definitely loud and brash. I would call Alpine Meadows more of a low key mountain. Same with Kirkwood or Sugar Bowl, both great mountains that could be called low key.
I spend about 3 weekends a month at Mammoth now, and I absolutely love it, but I prefer Squaw. Mammoth is great though, very underrated nationally because not many non-socal people go there. I also love Snowbird/Alta, sick terrain and tons of snow.
I don't really ski the park, so if that's your thing don't listen to my recommendations.
cawilleI don't know if your post about Breck was sarcastic or if it's the fact that I think WC skiing is so much better than my crappy home mountain aka Holiday Valley
tyrolLol jaded dbag vs honest kook. As usual kook wins, Breck forever, just never find yourself there on a weekend or holiday.
cawilleI'm a EC skier, however I went out west for the first time last year to Breckenridge and it was amazing. On the EC I really liked Stowe
jewbergBreck is great for park, but there are many better mountains for Big Mountain
GetshiftyI love skiing at Willamette pass in Oregon, it's a hidden gem and gets tons of snow. It has the steepest in bounds ski run in Oregon 53 degrees at points. It also has the only 6 person high speed lift in Oregon. It has some of the best lines I have ever skied and has a ton of backcountry access ski terrain. Message me if you want to know a sick pillow zones minutes away from the pass. Anyone how goes to Mt bachelor or that area should go check it out, go the the backside for the gnarly cliffs

GetshiftyNot at all, most of the time you can ski on to the lift basically, bachelor is so much worse on a pow day
