Squid Skiing Podcast, Opinions

yoooo what's up, I'm blatantly self promoting here but I think these are
important. I've been working on some podcasts with skiers in the industry and really want your opinion (mostly your criticisms) on them and who you want to see on it next. I've been enjoying these, good listen while doing something else. my only recommendation would be to maybe cut some of the random banter.

like that shits is important for podcasts and can lead to some cool stories but for example in the vishnu podcast it felt like1 hour to 1.20 (or around there) was a lot of random banter which didn't really go anywhere and the subject ended changing like a minute or 2 later anyways.

either way cool to see you doing these, podcasts are neat

Glad you enjoyed! I agree with you on the random banter part. I gotta stop being lazy and cut some parts. Thanks for the feedback

Editing out parts/ maintaining control and flow of the conversation. Coming into the podcast with a few topics decided beforehand can be beneficial.

its a podcast, not an interview.

dont make it an interview.

maybe have some talking points but my favorite podcasts are just interesting conversations with interesting people.

i enjoy them, i want to make a video podcast this winter while im on trips. hoping to actually pull it off.

Listen to a Joe Rogan podcast. A conversation flows better than an awkward interview. Low Pressure Podcast is a good example of a ski related podcast that isn't a strict interview like The Powell Movement. I've only listened to two but I think you'll get the hang of them.

Enjoyed listening to a couple. Wouldn't really tell you to change anything about it. Dig the organic flow of conversation

These are pretty interesting, I love them. But they're kinda hard to hear unless your in a quiet room with headphones. And please don't make them shorter they're good where they're at. Keep it up!

Thanks guys! Hyped on all the feedback, I could def improve audio quality on my side but I have no control over the guests audio. I'll have to try to make it less of an interview and if it becomes one I'll call it that. Stept or Ahmet would be sick, but also are very hard to get in touch with, I'll give it a go though. Feel free to hurt my feelings with the criticism cause I know at some points I sound mad awkward and have problems. I'd rather focus on fixing these problems than be upset about them happening.

I'm listening to the new podcast right now and I love it. My favorite part is how real and relateable the podcast is. You address topics with terrific skiers who I am incomparable to, and make these topics relevant and interesting to me and the listeners. Great work.

steve stepp one was cool
invest in a better mic, couldnt help but notice that steve's audio was much much clearer than yours.

And another thing is, own your podcast. Theres times where i feel like the podcast loses momentum. Ive noticed after an interesting point from your guests you reply with "word word" or "thats hype" when i feel like you could have added on to the subject more and didnt. I realize that its hard to really dive into a deep conversation with people youve never talked before over the phone/skype/whatever you use. Watch more and more podcasts and see really exactly how to just get a solid conversation going with people. Theres a lot of potential here and like said previously you are really the only person doing these (have had the idea for something like this for mad long but you beat me to it), so you just gotta get more comfortable talking to people you dont know.

But props on getting the people you have on the pocast! Super interesting podcasts, really enjoy them and theyll only get better! Super stoked to see more

Thank you so much for the detailed response, Of course I'd like to invest in a better mic when I get them going for a bit. And yeah completely agree with the word word and not giving back detailed reponses. I cringe a lot when I listen to a lot of the stuff I say but in the moment it's hard to keep coming up with valuable stuff to say. It's a skill I hope I'll learn as the series goes on. Doing these gave me such a better perspective on why hosting an interview or podcast actually takes some skill.

Stoked on the nature of Steve's, where it leaned more towards story telling and elaboration on his opinions. Vishnu's was rad and definitely had a more natural flow to it, but the one with Magnus and Wabs and those guys was a little heavy with them just sort of "catching up", and could've used a little more structure imo, though I get why you wanted to let them roll with the energy they had. Keep it up dude!!

Yea no problem, like I said creating a podcast has been on my mind for almost a year now, just havent had the resources to make it how I want. (I really want to do a video, in person..joe rogan style podcast, that I only see feasable once i move out west.) But yeah this is what..your 4th podcast? You can already tell how much youve improved since your first show. Towards the middle of the podcast with steve i could tell how much more comfortable the conversation was. And thats the #1 thing in podcasting in my opinion, good strong conversations.
