I'm in the Colorado Mountain College product and design class and in long story short we are in a competition to see which group can make the best pair of skis. The winner gets their skis actually produced for a limited class run. So it got me thinking, what do skiers actually want? Feel free to leave what your favorite skis are and why, what you want to see in a ski, or what you hate in a ski. Anything you guys like in a ski, core type, flex, shape, just throw info out there.
Look at current snowboard designs and use some of their ideas. Lots of freeskiing skis have been designed from taking elements from various snowboards.
Most importantly for any new skis, make a ski that you can't already buy.
Bring back the CRJ. Make it a bit stiffer in the nose, and a lot stiffer in the underfoot/tails. Keep the reverse side cut going, but make it a bit less skinny towards the tips. And keep that reggae lion top sheet going. If you successfully build a pair, I will buy. Bamboo core, 2.2x2.2mm edges minimum. Durasurf bases. None of that extruded shit. Oh and sandwich construction of course.
one of my friends makes good skis out of his house and borrows a press from 4frnt or vish cant rember. but he uses a form just for ski building to learn at first and he kills it he made like 4 prototypes to get the ski dialed.
