Mt Hood Meadows 17/18 Parks

A friend of mine who worked Meadows last season told me some honcho who formerly worked Mammoth parks is now at Mt Hood Meadows and he told me to expect some otherwordly parks this coming season. I want to know more about this guy from Mammoth who allegedly moved to Meadows and also what can we expect this season? I had a blast last season everytime I visited Meadows. I go for the terrain and when I make park laps I prefer the Forest Park. I'm just eager to hear more about this story. From what I hear Mammoth never dissapoints. If Mammoth now has a prescence on Hood this winter could this potentially mean Hood now becomes a top winter destination in the US like it is in the summer?

Mt. Hood Meadows has the best terrain on Hood... The parks have always struggled and the features tend to usually suck. They have tried to make some major improvements but failed (rope tow).

Timberline is clearly the obvious choice for freestyle terrain. They have the best/biggest jumps on Hood. They have quality features with a wide variety of fun jibs. They also have a lot of smaller parks that have really great beginner features. Even tho Timberline doesn't have the best terrain, they do have the outback trail which is debatably the run on Hood during a pow day.

I have no clue who this guy is, but I hope he starts fixing things at Meadows... Last time I skied there (last season) my friend completely ruined his skis because one of the park crew employees did not finish screwing in the screws on all the features....

+one on TLine for parks. Unless you live in Hood River the choice is clear and I don't think one dude is going to make a big difference.

The broken skis deal sucks. That said almost everyone uses bolts. It very likely isn't that they "didn't finish putting them in " but rather a bolt came loose or broke and pulled high enough to catch.

I'm not saying it doesn't suck, but I doubt anyone builds a box and leaves bolts sticking out because they're lazy.

Park crew isn't trying to kill people, at least most of the time.

I'm not expecting much from one person, but they could benefit from a rethinking of priorities. I'm thinking about how late in the season it was when they built the jump line off of Vista last year, and how few days the lift actually ran before they tore it up again.

I really think Meadows missed a golden opportunity with their new lift install. Were it me, I would have replaced Daisy instead of Buttercup. That would have drastically cut lap times to a big underutilized area for low intermediates and opened up a lot of possibility for terrain in that area.
