Yeah its definitely ironic, but I dont give a shit it will add a lil much needed spice and stoke back to freeskiing comps. Is he competing again in slopestyle/pipe stuff or is he getting into big mountain comps? I'm excited either way but more so if the latter is the case.

I think it shows how much of an idiot he was a couple years ago. Bashing everyone competing and trying to make it to the olympics because he was plagued by injury and couldn't keep up with the contest scene. Now hes trying to get back into contests, very ironic.

Thall is a sick skier and I can't wait to see this video, but dudes said some stupid shit in the past. Hopefully hes got his head on right now.

Who cares? He's gotta be one of the greatest entertainers in the recent history of the sport. Sure he runs his mouth, but it draws more people into the spectacle of freeskiing. You can argue that those people aren't tuning in for the right reasons but they'll be watching nonetheless which means more $$$ to keep the dream alive! I agree, he should stay away from the party if he wants to really make a comeback but he also shouldn't be afraid to call bullshit on anyone or run his mouth to stir the pot like McGregor has been doing in combat sports.

Drug and alcohol abuse + losing a close friend + a couple very serious scary injuries def would mess with your head.
Glad he is back on the right track and killing it. I am stoked to tune into the xgames or dew tour and watch him drop in. dust off those pipe cleaners.

I thought I had read that he has given up alcohol. Now, who is to say how long this sobering up has been going on (maybe he just said it for the interview with very little follow through?). I'm also pretty sure weed is a completely different story.

You ever say something years ago and then change your mind cause you want to do you? Who cares what he said about contests while he wasn't competing, that's how he felt at the time. Tanner is just trying to enjoy himself, and if getting back into the contest scene makes him excited, then he should go for it.

You should watch his movie Like A Lion, if you haven't already. Yes, he acted a fool and made some embarrassing comments... but he owned it and apologized. That was a period in his life when he was facing opiate addiction and a problem with alcohol, he was recovering from two blown knees and two broken femurs all after destroying both of his ankles (the fact that this dude can walk, let alone crush mountains is insane) and then CR's passing ruined him and obviously still effects him today.

It's a miracle that he made it out of those dark times and is still skiing and trying to enjoy life today. Don't be so hard on the dude... we all go through rough times.

He talked about giving it up in Like A Lion. Basically said that alcohol and opiates are the devil in his life and he won't touch the stuff again. However, that was in 2010 and he has become such a Tahoe wook, who knows what he is doing. I hope he is doing alright though... really hope he is staying away from the pills.

If he is still just drunk all the time... do you think that he and Spriggs are getting boozy while filming all of this? I mean if they legitimeny have substance abuse problems, than my guess would be yes? If so, than that's pretty fucked up.

Oh you're preachin to the choir, almost every friend who's interacted with him has had negative things to say haha. I'm just thinking how are people still acting shocked that this guy is kind of a dummy? Don't waste your time hoping for intellectual thoughts haha just enjoy the skiing cause he's sick

It's pretty ironic too me, he brought up comp skiing to where it is today and completely shit on all of it. Kinda just pissed me off that he was dissing park with how great big mountain skiing is, just let us fucking ski. Also didn't he get banned from COE cause he was an asshole to the US team?

Still stoked wants to come back, I would love seeing Dumont as well battling each other in the stunt ditch.

anyone saying tanner is butthurt or a moron... simply don't understand where he came from and what he did for skiing. If you are 14-20 yrs old on this website. you didn't have to the chance to experience how fucking good tanner was, season after season after season. The best ever.

I agree he went a little wild during the "real skiing" stunt... but whats new... tanner's passionate about skiing and tells it how it is. We've all said stupid shit before we didn't mean, and if I remember correctly tanner apologized for a lot of that stuff. I could be wrong.
