Your High School Experience

Im curious what rules your parents set, if any, to allow you all to ski. Mine allowed me 2 C's and i had to do 3 hours of work for every day a week I wanted to ski haha. Share stories!

Titus69I was allowed to ski pretty much regardless of grades but had to be passing to on any trips, since 4th grade my parents expectations in school weren't too high. They know all I've ever cared to do was ski so they supported it but obviously made sure I was passing. HS sucked for grades cause I was skiing my best and had to get by in class, it got bad cause I'd have to constantly stay after a lot and parents were starting to get pissed after one bitchy dyke teacher emailed them saying she gave up on me. The thought of going back to school is horrifying cause of high school though, I can't listen to shit i don't care to hear, just goes write through me, all this cause I'm obsessed with skiing.

Yeah I totally feel that. Im off to college in the fall and despite hearing a million times how different it is going to be than high school I still worry that it’s going to be the same old bullshit.

My friends tell me it's more work, more girls, more partying, most of all, more expensive than high school. Gonna go to community college soon too, never even applied to colleges, lol.

voy10Even with good grades, I still have to beg my parents to ski every weekend. They're against me skiing. Any rare time I talk about anything ski related, they just get real annoyed because they're "tired of me obsessing over it". They also say "this addiction isn't healthy for you" like it's some drug addiction or something. I have to beg them to buy anything ski related on line, even though I pay for 100% of anything ski related. Anyone else's parents like this?? It's super annoying and they don't realize that Skiing's just a big part of my life.


How did u got money to pay for your gear??

I need to earn some to finish buying my gear, make a summer setup and pay transport to go to the mountain on pow days.

I cut grass in the summer. Now I have a job but grass cutting is still the better income. Super easy, definitely worth it. 10/10 would recommend.

community college is where its at, thinking of going 2 years then transferring to a nice ass in state school

I went for a semester for gen eds lol but I'll go back and do some 2 year thing at least or go to trade school.

Its the same bullshit, just with more freedom. College is cool though. A large part of that is being around a higher percentage of mature and motivated people.

My grades have dropped more and more each year to the point where i couldn't play hockey anymore for my school. (having your starting position as a goalie taken away your senior year sucked major cock. And the fact that my entire school knew about my shitty grades at this point sucked even more) My parents saw that I was getting hella depressed so they became a little more lenient with me skiing. Ended up getting the most days ive ever gotten in this season and somehow managed to get into college so that kinda brought the tension up a little. As far as equipment tho, as long as its with my own money the couldnt care less about what I get. I do shit around the house and yard in order to get gas money for trips so ive been pretty fortunate as of this year.

Parents took a vacation out to Brighton every winter. Happiest week of my life each year bar none. When I graduated high school I went straight to Utah and now I get a seasons pass at snowbird every year. I work 30 hrs a week and do school in the evenings but during the winter I ski open to close every weekend. My mom is not a big fan of my stunts and my dad said I shouldn't get the tram this winter because he said it seems like you want to make every Tram and that's a good way to get hurt. However, it is absolutely fantasistic

I caddy. Made a hundred dollers this weekend for caddying from 9 in the morning to around 12 on both days.

I think the old saying of "Work hard and play hard" can apply to school. I struggled throughout schooling, still do, but you have to find time to take care of yourself. But in a good balance, of course. I got lucky in high school by living in a ski town and being able to take advantage of a class that basically let us go ski 2-3 days/week for our PE credits, and then would just hit homework and studying super super hard on the days when I wasn't skiing.

Just get it over with and then decide if you just wanna work and ski or go to college, work and ski. My whole friends group is composed of people who work all summer and ski all winter, or go to school all summer/work, and ski all winter.

I was a shit kid, I admit it. Fucking hated cops and all things authority. Me and some of my old friends thought we would really send a message to the sheriff department if we firebombed one of there cars. We knew where one of the deputy's lived and he would park his marked car there when he would come home. Joke was on us as it turned out to be THE sheriff of the whole county. We threw 2 molotov cocktails at it and burned that thing to the ground. It's a long story but my former friends flipped and testified against me pinning it all on me. I was being tried as an adult but my attorney got me dropped back into juvenile court and got what they call deffered entry of judgement. It was a fucking nightmare.

Juvy is shit. Being locked blows. When I turned 18 I got my record sealed but when I tried to join the army they could still see I had arson and street terrorism charges so I couldn't join. Totally not worth it. People up in my parts still know about and still associate me with it and think that is who I am as a human being. I live kind of close to Sacramento and it made the papers there. Fucking FBI got involved. As a 16 year old it went from fun to holy shit I just ruined my life.
