Summer Skiing

I had a question about skiing in the summer after reading an article on the Flying Eagle Ski Club and how they install plastic sheets on the slopes to allow year round practice. Obviously, this is exclusive to the members of the ski club. I was wondering if anyone here has ever had an opportunity to practice on these plastic substitutes and, if so, how do they compare? Is there anyway to get access to something like this without being an official member of a competing team?

Go ski real snow. Doesn't cost much to drive up a pass and hike some lines. Or you can destroy your skis and get rug burn on that nasty stuff.

Buck Hill and Liberty mountain have synthetic carpet to ski. They spray water (sprinkler system) on the carpet so that you can slide around and "ski." It's pretty coo, but it's nothing like being on snow. You kind of need to straight line features, not really able to speed check like on snow. And you and your gear are going to get decently wet even if you don't fall. You'll get bored at liberty if you're alone, it's rather small so bring friends. Buck hill is bigger but I'd apply the same logic.
All in all...Decent snow substitutes if you don't have access to snow in the summer, aka literally everywhere in the US except mammoth, hood, and Woodward.
Plus idk how old you are but liberty does summer ski camps and a lot of kids enjoy it.

Yeah, I live in LA so Mammoth isn't TOO far. I'm probably actually going to wait until the fall but I was just curious about my future options.

Its actually an off brand snow at Buck Hill, so it hurts like shit to fall and feels like ice to try nd stop and whatever. Also, Buck is a lot smaller, the only thing they have that Liberty does is a little run without features. Bucks park is a lot smaller overall, no jumps, lots of uneven bumps, and super shitty setups

Your name should be changed to *smokincrack, OP doesn't listen to this. There is plenty places to find snow and If you can't then I wouldn't suggest spending money going to a artificial subsitute. Go to a place and ski on real snow, like hood or whistler. Hood is only like what 13 hours and you could camp/ride for a whole summer...

Pretty interesting, they made that place look like the Mecca of synthetic park when they set up features. No jumps damn that's beat

Yah there's never more than like 5 people there. Tickets were outrageous and the material sucks, and rails are more than 10ft long. Way over hyped and poorly executed
