Swandog7HGs won't be too tall. I picked up a full camber 176 pair of joysticks and they were groovy. I weigh a little less than you too and have comparable height. Singers will be more traditional and poppy probably, the magnus is gonna have a lot more dramatic rocker and unstable but swervy and shorter turn radius.
SessionExcept at similar lengths the Magnus literally has a longer turn radius.
Swandog7Thank you for this, I was actually shocked how big the radius is. The 176 and up are all longer than the HGs. Did the radius get longer once you guys changed the FR into the Magnus?
iggyskierThe Magnus radius is tighter than the Filthy Rich.
Do note, the elliptical sidecut radius is designed to be straighter underfoot and tighter in the tips and tails, so when you load up and flex the skis, they carve a lot tighter than the listed radius. Flip side is what you are skiing flat in and out of features, the skis are more stable because the sidecut is straighter underfoot.
As for this choice...I'm obviously biased but the main differing factor is rocker. We're 100% sold on our rocker designs which is why everyone on our team is skiing Magnus or Kartel 98/108 in the park, so we have no concerns with stability. That said, a full camber ski does have a different, more locked in feel. I'd say if you want more locked in and stable feel, go HG. If you want something more playful/jibby, go Magnus.
Hope that helps.
Swandog7Rad shit. I was wondering why the profile changed, bow I know. I'm a rocker guy myself. Hopefully I can hop on a demo pair sometime soon.
iggyskierSo you know, too, when talking rocker profile with the Magnus vs FR, we decreased the tail rocker on the magnus to give you more stability landing and more power when carving. Tip rocker is the same between the two molds.
