Lieutenant_DanSee isn't that the issue, and actually Christianity doesn't promote violence for religious purpose at all. Now in history their has been murders perpetrated for christian gain, yes. But I can guarantee that all of them were committed by Catholics, Neo Nazi's, and White Supremacist (Not protestant christians). Protestants was a movement to get away from the Catholics, as they saw the corruption, and how they were misleading the masses of Europe. Don't get me wrong Alt-Rights are bad and very hateful group. Murder is murder, no way beating around the stick. I don't know much about Islamic religion but if attacking innocent non believers is somehow promoted in their religion is apart of the ideology that is super wrong. If that is apart of the religion, then why aren't they seen as a hate group? Whereas with Alt-Right they're labeled a hate group for their own judgement towards people of different color/race, not from religion perspective as no their is no acceptance of this behavior in the bible. There is no biblical scriptures reinforcing that God created a dominant race, or promoting discrimination towards others. I agree we should condemn Alt-Right groups for their hate, but then question ponders me why should we be more accepting of Islamic religious people if this type of hate/violence is promoted in their religion. If promoted violence, and hate is In the religion, why aren't they deemed a hate group? I'm taking your word, so if anyone does have some insight on the Islamic religion please feel free to supply some information/perspective.

Christianity does promote violence for religious purposes in both the New and Old Testament (more so Old than New, but both do it). The New Testament also justifies slavery, treating women as second class citizens, and anti-Semitism. So Christianity is definitely not off the hook. If you want to know which parts of Islam are violent, just do a simple Google search for violent verses in both the Qur'an (that which came direct from Allah) and the Hadith (the biography of Muhammad). Killing Jews "wherever you find them" is 100% justified and encouraged, so is killing non-believers, apostates (those who leave the religion), adulterers, and homosexuals. Not to mention that martyrdom is very central to the ideology- this is why Muslims are killing each other and other people in the name of Islam. Being a martyr for Allah is basically guaranteed entry to Heaven and is seen as the most glorious way one can die.
I believe Westerners want to defend Islam because 1) they think that well since Christianity did bad things in the past, we can let Islam off the hook, 2) Not all Muslims are bad people, so don't blame the religion, 3) many people don't want to criticize others' way of life, and 4) most people want to defend minority groups and don't want to be labeled as a bigot. The underlying problem is that most people haven't read any of the Qur'an and consequently don't understand how retrograde and horrible Islam is. Anyone who believes in freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of religion, equality of the sexes, etc. etc. should be fully and utterly opposed to Islam.
