Senior Trips

Looking to go on a senior trip and I am fortunate enough to have a lot of opportunities.

The trip would be either during Winter break, Spring break (End of march, beginning of April), or next summer in the southern hemisphere.

Im not quite sure what conditions places have during these times of the year so I figured I would reach out to you guys and see if you have any advice for me. Also just curious on resorts, lodging, flights, all of that good stuff.

So far we have looked at Zermatt Switzerland, La Grave France, Chamonix, Japan (only if we can get hella cheap flights), anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, and South America for the summer.

Looking to see what advice you guys would have on a location for a trip around these times of the year and where we can get the best skiing and experience. Everyone on the trip is an experienced skier so a "family friendly" resort is not necessary and would be better off not having one.

I got to experience Chamonix a few years ago and it was pretty incredible...also a huuuuge tourist trap, though. La Grave would be really cool but from what I've heard you really need to be at the top of your game to enjoy that place.

Sounds like youre in for an awesome trip!

All of these sounds great.. Chamonix would be awesome but I assumed it would be super touristy.. The off-piste skiing there sounds amazing though.

What time of the year did you go?

And yeah a drinking age at 18 would be a bonus

Ski the powder highway in BC (Kicking Horse, Fernie, Revelstoke, Whitewater, and Red Mountain). Drinking age is 19 but you can finish off in Alberta where it's 18 and get smashed in Banff. If you want to ski the best snow on earth, this is the place to go.

I think I would go somewhere in BC or Alaska for snow you can count on if you're planning a trip in advance. Some years are better than other's in both of those places but the snow can be pretty shitty some seasons in the southern hemi.

The places in EU would be sweet, I've looked into flights (I've never been) and the airfare can get pretty pricey so if you're on somewhat of a budget that would be a concern.

Skora89I think I would go somewhere in BC or Alaska for snow you can count on if you're planning a trip in advance. Some years are better than other's in both of those places but the snow can be pretty shitty some seasons in the southern hemi.

Both super helpful. Would both of those be good in late march early April? I'm not sure when Prime skiing is in alaska but that sounds about right.

About flights to Europe, you can get to Geneva for about $850 and drive to Zermatt in 3 hours, airbnbs aren't too pricey there if you're willing to squish people in. I think that's our top choice right now but Alaska would be great. I think it would be a little late in Canada's season but I may be wrong?

Yeah might be getting late in BC however this past season we had powder days well into late April, would be a great time to hit AK tho. The biggest difference aside from the snow between Europe and BC/AK is that euro resorts are very industrialized and generally lacking the whole natural wilderness feel, depends what you're looking for.

You could find cheaper flights for sure. Where are you flying out of?
