Best Helmet

I'll start off by saying the best helmet is the one that fits your head best. Everyone has a different shape head so Forget MIPS, forget multi Impact- if it doesn't fit your head properly it can sometimes do more damage than benefit. But with that being said the multi directional impact system(mips) seems to reduce the effects of concussions most effectively when properly fitted. Most companies(with legit market share) have a MIPS offering nowadays.

Yeah man it has speakers in it and it's extra weight promotes neck trauma. That's like double better. Best helmet hands down /thread.

But seriously op the helmet that fits your head will be the helmet that protects the best. Also invest in single use helmets since they will have better protection than multi impact ones. Two of the most popular helmets atm are the smith maze and the poc receptor bug, start with those and go from there.

I agree- how are you suppose to know when a multi impact helmet is compromised? single impact is the way to go- the maze and receptor bug are two great spots to start for sure

I personally feel more confident with a single impact helmet but my buddy likes multi impact. So, to echo everyone's wisdom above me, a lot of what makes a helmet "the best" comes down to your personal preference and comfort.

I used the K2 Stash all last season. Took a few crashes that would have been worse with any other helmet I've used in the past but this helmet did a really good job of absorbing the impacts. It also has an adjuster dial on the back to tighten and loosen, also doubles as a bike helmet so you can save $$

I've been using the Smith Vantage for prally 3 seasons and it's the best helmet I've used. It's got the BOA fit thing so it's really solid when tightened just right, basically feels like a fitted hat and never moves around on you. It's pretty light weight (has a honeycomb-like Koroyd core), 21 vents, and you can open / close the front or back half of em independently. Airflow is good and it's warm on cold/windy days with the vents closed

I've had my bell rung a few times with this helmet on, and other some light scratches it has held up perfectly. Easy to remove the ear flaps and goggle lock thing too.

it's a pretty spendy one though, and in case this matters to you with the BOA system you can't really wear goggles under your helmet for maximum steeze (at least I can't - i have I/Os with the plastic buckle in the back). as far as helmets that require you to wear your goggles on the outside go, it looks pretty tight.

I've got a POC receptor bug adjustable, but I got it right when MIPS came out and didn't get that feature. I will say, MIPS seems to be a nice added safety feature to helmets these days, and if you get a helmet that is adjustable that will ensure a snug fit.

I like my helmet. Serves its purpose.
