Best/Safest Helmet

Hey I'm looking for a new Helmet for the 17/18 season and I was wondering what are some good ones to look for that look dope but are also really safe. I've had a Bern helmet for the past year.

Get something with mips (multiple impact protection system) it'll save you a lot of pain down the road, at least did for me. As far as I know there's quite a few brands that make em, but on the expensive side there's Sweet protection and for cheap you've got Pret I think

If you go over 35mph best to go with DOT approved.

Like other people said if you want the SAFEST helmet i would go for a poc helmet or any helmet that has MIPS however if you want a helmet that will last but also looks good and is safe i would go for the giro combyn. I use the combyn and love it.

NO!

MIPS does not stand for multiple impact protection system. it stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System. It allows the shell of the helmet to rotate during the impact with an oblique angle of impact at a faster rate than the foam inside. This keeps the brain from getting to "spun". In a normal, straight-on impact, Having MIPS makes little to no difference. At that point, the construction properties and the fit of the helmet will be the most important factors.

Note: No helmet is truly designed to withstand more than one major impact

No, not at all. All of my helmets are MIPS. Its great technology. It increases the price of the product, but in the name of reducing the chances of getting a concussion (which can lead to long term health issues). Even a $300 dollar with MIPS is cheaper than a trip to the ER / brain doctor.

Personally, I only use Smith helmets, since they work so well with their goggles (and I also only use smith goggles), fit wise. And I buy them with MIPS
