So I'm tryin to get my ass out of massachusetts/southern vermont and live near/ski brighton this winter. However the whole ordeal is a bit overwhelming at the moment. What is housing like out there? How many shitty restaurant jobs are there that allow me to ski during the day? How hard is it to live out there with out a car? Is having a car necessary? Whom has some good advice for me. Thank u in advance

You need a car, live in sugarhouse, get a job at one of 100s of restaurants in slc.

its pretty tough to not have a car to be honest. live on the east side of salt lake, somewhere south of 900 south. sugar house is great if you want to still have a city life but its getting pretty expensive, cottonwood heights is great if you just want to be close to the mountains (plus there's a fun little skatepark and the hog's wallow bar). its not too hard to find nighttime restaurant work, especially if you already have experience. resort jobs are a great way to get a free pass, meet people, and still get to shred daily or almost daily. if you work at a resort your boss knows you're only there to ski, so they usually schedule shifts in a way that give everyone time to shred. most important thing is just send it! things fall into place

ski bus up the canyon is free with a Brighton pass. plenty of good bus routes in slc. having a car is nice but honestly i find myself parking at the park and ride if I'm alone and taking the bus up and down to save gas. on saturdays the bus can even be the better option as the parking lot will fill up for a couple hours. also it's very easy to hitchhike up from the park and ride and down from the Brighton loop. hell ill give you a ride if you got your thumb out and i got room. look for roommates to make housing more affordable. it's definitely doable. plenty of places to work and cheap enough living in sugarhouse/millcreek/south salt lake.
