Couldn't find BG specific threads for sizing on the later iterations of the ski, so I figured I'd start something here.
A bit about me, I'm 5'9'' (or 175cm) tall, weigh about 165 lbs. I ski Whistler predominantly, but I make trips South to Baker and East to Revelstoke and Whitewater. I'm comfortable skiing anywhere, I've got room for improvement on my big mountain skillz - but I like steeps, trees, couloirs, deep snow - that kind of thing. I like to ski fast, and I like to drive my ski.
This ski will be a 90% resort, 10% slack country type thing and will probably wind up with some guardians on them. Think 1-2 hour tours from the lift to areas like disease ridge on Blackcomb, or over to Cowboy on Whis. I'm not overly worried about weight.
I'm finally able to afford an upgrade to the quiver, and am super stoked. The two finalists in contention for me were the Moment Bibbys in a 184, and the Billy Goats.
For the time being, I'm leaning towards the BG's. I've been a long time supporter of ON3P, I've ridden a number of their skis and really enjoyed them all. My quiver currently contains 181 Jeronimos and 181 Caylors for reference - both mounted on the line IIRC. The thing is, I can't decide what size to opt for if I do decide to go with the BG (179 vs 184). This is a much more directional ski than I've been on recently, and I think the BGs are mounted around 6 back from centre. To add to that, I'm wondering if the extra weight and length will make them hard for someone like me to swing around in steeper / tighter areas.
It might be that the BG is only 3 cm longer than the Caylor, but if I'm riding it an additional 4 cm back on the mount point that's a pretty large difference. For reference, I felt comfortable riding the Bibby in a 184 - but that ski was mounted closer to centre and is closer to a 182 vs the "true" 184 of the BG.
Wondering what people here would suggest. Wondering if anyone roughly my size could chime in with their own experiences.
Cheers!
