Dope B.C. interior mountains?

So I'm looking at moving to a ski town at some point in the near future, either this winter or next, and am not sure which town would be the best fit. I've grown up skiing whistler but I think it may be time to explore the rest of BC. I'm looking for a mountain that gets lots of snow and has sick terrain, but affordability and availability of jobs is also important.

Right now i'm considering Revelstoke, Nelson, Rossland, Golden, and Fernie. Which place would you guys reccomend?

Also, I have worries that Red and Kicking Horse may not get enough snow, am I being irrational?

I grew up on the coast then lived in whistler for a few years. Made the move to Golden and never looked back. Obviously it doesn't get as much snow as whistler but there is hardly anyone here and the Temps are super consistent so it always is dry snow. The tracked out snow is fun to ski because it's light and doesn't turn to chunder. There is never a melt and refreeze. Basically things stay really consistent. If you ski slack country this is super important for snow quality.

As for terrain, it's fucking gnarly. It's all fall line skiing and it is the only big resort you actually ski top to bottom. 4000ft. Slack country is super convenient too.

Why cant you keep a secret? Have you seen the lift lines this year? 4 years ago, 30cm pow days would have 5-10min wait lines...now its like 40mins.

Red mountain is a smarter choice...it it were cheaper

Im definitely hitting Revelstoke, Fernie, and Kicking Horse this year. Maybe Red too, if I get lucky.

honestly if you're looking for tamer terrain id say fernie if you're not trying to make it big and just trying to live the lifestyle, but if you have ambition, id say revelstoke if you are a backcountry skier with a sled and kicking horse area if you're just looking to tear it up inside the boundaries.

Skied Revelstoke and Whitewhite this winter and they were both sick. I personally liked the vibe and terrain that was offered at Whitewater better, Nelson is also sick. Revelstoke's terrain is really dope too, but the mountain is kind of awkward to get around IMO, they stuff you can hike to at Whitewater is dope, and its cheaper

Nelson is dope, great snow and chill vibes, but good luck finding a job or a place to stay. Fernie is dope but tends to get pretty warm, was there this year in feb and it rained to the top. Red is dope, gnarlier terrain than whitewater but snow is simply not as good or as much. Revelstoke feels like whitewater but with bigger cliffs and a weird layout. Kicking Horse is dope, consistent temps and insane terrain, however I feel the snow is not as good, also suffers a lot from having easily the worst layout I've ever seen, 4000m runs but 3000 of it is a groomer.

How about the towns? Which do I have the best chance at finding affordable housing/a job?

I've only lived in Nelson it would be a fair assumption to say it's the hardest to find affordable living and a job, however having been to all these places it is by far the nicest to live in, Fernie is quite dope tho. Revy and Golden are nice but aside from skiing there won't be much to do comparatively since they're both pretty small. Rossland is nice but basically a smaller Nelson with less to do. Basically if you can find somewhere to stay go to Nelson, we've got 2 nightclubs and a bunch of bars and other stuff to keep you entertained while you aren't skiing, the job market is shit if you don't know people tho. If you can't make Nelson work I'd recommend Fernie, it's a super nice town with lots to do. Most places in BC are not good for housing or jobs so just go with whichever place you like the most and I'm sure u can make it work.

I can't say that I have ever heard someone complain about Kicking Horse's layout. Firstly, the gondola is the longest gondola in North America and goes from bottom to top. You traverse at the top and essentially ski fall line the rest of the way down, unheard of. 4000ft laps in 25 minutes including the Gondola ride. Unheard of. Aaand the bottom 3000ft are not groomers. You ski pow to Catamount top 2/3 of the way down. The consistent temps help with that. I'll gladly show you around, although the mountain is pretty self explanatory.

Mountain is dope but it needs a mid station on the gondi, the length of it is the main problem I've had. Tho I've mainly been there for competitions and the length of laps with gondola is a nightmare with making your start times so I may be a bit biased.

I love the town. That's half the reason I stayed. It's half redneck, half ski bums. A pretty genuine town. There's no pro scene, just a bunch of rad people who like new friends. 4 good bars on the main strip, a sweet new brewery, live music most days of the week, lots of big name bands stop by on their way to Calgary. Plenty of drop in sports. And as of January each year, a decent showing of Scandinavian girls.

Air bnb, among other things, has made rentals tougher the last few years in every mountain town in BC. Rent in Golden is about $4-500 for a room, sometimes internet and hydro included. November is a smarter time to show up for accomodation. The hill opens the first weekend of Dec but you can ski tour, hit the huge ski swap, catch movie premiers and find a job.

Loki? right on, I've judge you a number of times now. Fair enough about making your start times when the comp is over at Compton's. Even Marley's without lift priority can be tough. Wait til you start doing Wrangle and you've got to hike up T1 ;)

A bit late to the party, but Whitewater, Red, Revelstoke and Kicking Horse are all pretty sweet.

Revelstoke has the vert, and if you've got a car it's pretty easy to ski KH as well.
