Ankle Sprain

So i was at skyzone on those tiny things they call trampolines, and i happened to sprain my ankle trying to learn misty 5. I completely screwed up what axis I was on and my ankle popped in and out after landing on the pad. I got x rays and its not broken, but i was wondering what the recovery steps are like. Not like the treatments but the signs that it is recovering and how far I am in the process. I did this two days ago.
Yesterday it started showing a circle of bruising under my outer ankle bone, around the size of the ankle actually. I could kind of walk, i was able to stand on it without any major pain. I could move it mostly up and down, but side to side was a problem.
I just woke up and there is now the sams circle of brusing which is a lot more purple plus there are now lines of bruising under the ankle bone on each side of the foot which I think its very odd. However, I can move my foot a lot better. I would say around 50% of my old range of motion. I was just curious if this seems out of the normal or slower / faster than normal. I will keep using the RICE method until i am back to 100%.
I run trails in the summer and I am going to go to a runner specific chiropractor/ physical therapist who fixes running injuries so I can get my ankle strengthened enough to run trails. Trails are very rocky and rough so it is common to tweak an ankle. This is my first ankle injury so I want to play it safe by getting a professional. Thanks.

In that light, I'll give you professional advice: Your ankle is fucked, which means your life is fucked. End it all.

you've pretty much got the whole thing covered by the sounds of it. I've sprained both of my ankles in the past, ended up working labor the entire time through the healing process and it was still only 2 weeks before I was able to use it properly again.

don't worry about it too much, give it a week with minimal stress and see how it feels.

Ive been through many ankle injuries.

The best way to get them back is to immobilize them the best you can. Get some crutches and you will be mobile to get around. Keep the weight off as long as you can, but keep you metabolic rate high. Do as much cardio that doesnt involve your feet. The more the heart beats, the quicker you recover. My other recommendation is medical cannabis and lots of it. Its an anti-inflammatory, painkiller and passes the time until the swelling goes down.

Just remember, if its hurts; rest...dont over do it.

I completely snapped my atfl (one of the most common ligaments in your ankle to injure) recently. The physio got me doing all these exercises for it because I don't think it grows back together properly so your brain has to get used to balanceing without it and it needs to strengthen. You don't want to do too much on it but you want blood flow through it as well.

So today i got standing xrays and they found a small fracture on some tiny thing in the back of my ankle. So im in a boot for 1.5 weeks and a brace for 1.5 weeks, and then physical therapy after that 3rd week.

Follow up update. I just started getting back into running this week. I am only doing like 3 or 4 miles a day but the ankle feels great, it's just sore the first mile usually. Once it gets some good blood flow it is fine. My main concern is just getting it back to 100% since there are still some things that make it painful, like when you stretch your quad by pulling your foot up behind you. Also that fracture is still sore if you press on it with a good amount of pressure.

I found that used to hurt mine as well but now it doesn't really hurt it anymore so I'd say some more time and it will be even better :-)

that quad stretch is my arch nemesis. Once it became alright for my previously busted ankle to do that, I busted up my knee. My right leg has been incapable of doing that painlessly for almost 3 years now

oddly enough i can do the stretch pain free today. Idk how the progress had seemed to be at a skow halt in terms of soreness and pain.

That's good! Mine took a while but I just kept doing that stretch and now mines fine
