CaseyThe risk is that it may not be a terrorist training camp, or maybe there's a bunch of women and children there that all die as well as a few goat herders with AKs and pickup trucks that have no ability to directly harm the US. I view today's drone strikes the way I view the last generations arming the mujahedeen in Afganistan, it seems like the best option at the time but the unintended consequences 30 years down the line come back to bite us in the ass. But I mean it's basically drone strikes or nothing because the public would flip the fuck out if we sent ground troops back to the Middle East in large numbers.

My point is that there is inherent blowback in drone strikes, so as long as we are bombing people we are creating a future need to bomb people and it never ends. It's like trying to get rid of a mosquito bite by scratching it.
