What to expect at Big Sky

What are the employee housing dorms like at Big Sky?
I assumed they had a kitchen and private rooms, but after reading an email that was sent out it does not seem like there is a kitchen. Which leads to my next question, is there discounted food that they provide or is it just recommended for me to bring a george foreman grill and make burgers and chicken?

I appreciate the help.

yeah you're gonna want to bring a grill, there's no kitchen. You get half off food from the resort cafeteria, but that'll still burn through your paycheck pretty quickly

Bring a george foreman and maybe a portable hot plate. employee housing is kind of pathetic up here as far as the amenities go, but from a social standpoint it can be super fun. also there is a community food bank up here that is pretty solid

Ok thanks. It does seem pretty basic, but it is cheap. I didn't realize there was no kitchen until after I already was approved for it. My goal is to get established and hopefully find an apartment by the end of summer.

Are you on facebook? If so, check out the Big Sky Housing Network page, its the best bet when looking for places to live up here. We are in a major housing crisis right now, but in the summer its a little easier to find somewhere to live than in the winter. Good luck!

I just signed for a studio right on the mountain. It was harder than normal for me to find a place. It took me a few weeks, instead of a few days. Im sure as the season gets closer, it gets harder & harder.

There are a few similar studios left I believe. Kind of pricey for a studio, $850/month, but still significantly cheaper than Jackson Hole or even Tahoe.

I hope you guys are ready to jam

Pretty standard for it to take that long up here to find a place. Severe housing shortage, lots of places that used to be rentals are now up for sale, long time locals are getting booted left and right from places they've lived in for years and unfortunately for the new guys, people tend to rent to someone who has been around for a minute instead of someone just moving up here for the first time
