Best Cliff Skiing

I'm a skier who loves hucking cliffs above everything else, for next year, I'm having a hard time deciding between:

Whistler Blackcomb

Whitewater

Red Mountain

Revelstoke

(I'd like to hear other suggestions, but I really just want to know what is the best out of those four)

Eh.. not really a cliff unless you enter from one of the sides. Otherwise it's just a cornice.

Jackson hole does have some sick cliffs and terrain though.

They do I remember when I first did a blunt grab off courbets, there's people who do insane shit off that cliff

Red is super flat, there's no good snow, no cliffs and no good tree skiing at all, plus the lifts are too fast all the powder gets skied out waaaaaaay too quickly by the massive hordes of people that ski there.

Having skied at all of these mountains on multiple occasions, whitewater being my home mountain. If you just want to go send fat cliffs whistler/blackcomb is going to be the way to go, there's just so much huge stuff to hit there, however revelstoke's terrain is on the same level of gnar, just not quite as much of it. Red has got some dope terrain but snow quality is usually not as good as Whitewater or Revy, so there'll be things to send but conditions to do so are rare. Whitewater is smaller, both the resort and the cliffs, if you want to go big you have to send, most of the cliffs inside the resort are below 30ft. However you will never have a lift line longer than 15 minutes even on the best day of the season, and this will be cut even shorter by the new quad being installed this summer. Whitewater is without a doubt my favorite of these mountains, the snow is quite literally always epic, but I've been looking at Revy and Whis for some bigger terrain myself. I would recommend picking Whitewater, Revy, or Red, all of which are within a 3 hour drive of each other, and check them all out and decide where you want to stay after visiting them.

I've been to all those resorts just a quick description of each;

Whitewater: Deep DEEP POW, like REAL DEEP, everyday! and playful terrain and amazing tree skiing and backcountry access!

Red Mountain: meh great hill, great terrain, but doesn't really stick out from the amazing mountains and resorts around it.

Revelstoke: Very similar to Whitewater in terms of deep pow and playful terrain just everything's bigger and there's more terrain to explore!

Whistler: Overrated. Sick terrain and big lines but lift lines are nutty especially on holidays. It's a sick place to ride if your willing to deal with it's massive appeal to tourists and Jerry's.

In my opinion I would do Kicking Horse. Hands down they have the gnarliest terrain in all of Canada and they still get the deep snow. also with t1 and t2 only accessed by boot packers you can literally get fresh tracks all day on the busiest of days. I was there on christmas eve on a 40cm pow day and lapped t1 all day with maybe 6 other guys and got fresh tracks every lap. Also its only 2 hours from revelstoke and 1 hour from lake louise and sunshine which both have equally gnarly terrain just less snow. And did I mention they're lift lines are extremely small for a resort of it's size

Id say Whitewater is beginning to become overloaded with people. Its harder to find fresh tracks on a pow day and the line ups are getting more and more stupid. I love the vibe and the higher concentration of dope kids that can put on a show.

Red was awesome! I dont know what people are talking about. You need at least a week to get accustom to the cliff locations because they are harder to find. Hard to find cliffs=sweet landings!

Yea I agree Whitewater is getting more packed it used to be a secret and now the secrets getting out I tried moving there permanently awhile ago but it's so hard to get jobs and accommodation in that town now a days. and yea Revy gets the big lines too.

Having skied at all of those if all you want to do is stomp big cliffs Whistler is definitely the best choice. Ye there will be big lines at at the weekends but if you go at the right time of year the place is empty during the week and there is so much to ski. Even when it is busy there are literally so many options and so much terrain to explore that if you go for a five minute bootpack you'll find endless more options with no one around. Also Jerry's don;t hit Cliffs so those areas will still be decent on a busy day.

I spent a season in Whitewater and fuck park that whole mountain is a park. pole jams, log rides, quarter pipes, trannies just litter that whole mountain you just have to know where to find them and get creative with the natural features. I think I rode park once that season and this is coming from a park rat out of Ontario.

I would rather ride that mountain then swing park laps in Whistler any day!

Park City has the best cliffs for cliff skiing. So many cliffs for people who like to huck cliffs while cliff skiing.

Some of my best lines ever have been in Silverado. Kina's Paw to that straightline....I wish Silverado was a bit higher on the mountain, it melts out early. Still though, it has some sick terrain. Tram Bowl skier's right to Kina's to that straightline wa always one of my favorite pow day shots.

The stoke is pretty gnarly and the cliffs are littered all over the mountain with a good mix of size. You can send cliffs upwards of 20 feet within 5 feet of groomers which is dope. Whis is cool cause a lot of the cliffs are near the chair (peak atleast with tons more scattered around) so lots of hoots and hollers from on lookers but that means it gets skied out pretty fast. Can't speak for other resorts cause I haven't skied them for a long time. Hope that helps.

While skibowl is awesome and will always be my favorite resort, the terrain and snow conditions just aren't on par with the places he listed, especially considering how shitty 3 out of 5 of the last seasons there were

Going off this year it was fucking bezerk almost every night in feb and early march was POWDER , ever skied up above west wall on the backside of it going towards the skyline cat track, that shits wild and nobody ever skis it

Trust me I've skied pretty much everything there. Only cliffband I have yet to hit is the one above cascade, and that's a bitch of a hike.

It's like playing mini golf compared to a pro range if you compare the terrain from skibowl and the big resorts he is looking at. As well as the good terrain at skibowl is all on one lift.

It's a rad place to ski, but not a place I would recommend spending a winter at if they are looking to ski big mountain
