Kidney Protection Recommendations

Hey ya'll,
I learned this past December that I was born with only one functional kidney when I banged up my bad one during a skateboard fall that had me hospitalized for a few days. I don't plan on giving up skiing and I don't plan on giving up pushing myself, but I want to at least mitigate damage that could leave me in a BAD spot. I was wondering if any of you all have had luck with and can recommend something to protect my good kidney while I ski. I'm looking for specific products and not just 'try a motorcycle belt" since not all products are made equal (something I learned this year when I bought a really crappy kidney guard).
Thanks!
For the record, I did a search on NS but came up with mostly threads close to or over a decade old, and i'm not sure about the relevance of those anymore.

maybe like a lacrosse rib guard? or a football backplate/rip protector combo that quarterbacks wear?

I don't think anything will too great. Pads and stuff work really good on the hard parts of your body, they'll just get pushed into the soft parts unless they have something hard to brace against. You kind of need like an exoskeleton which is what those lacrosse plates look like. That said, all those look like they're good for stuff hitting you, not you throwing all your weight onto a rail and rib racking on it. Probably better than nothing though.
