Does weight matter for choosing waist width?

So would a lighter person be better off with a 110mm similar to a heavier person needing 120mm? or is it irrelevant?

I want a ski for just powder days since my skis are not really good in powder. Is Line Magnum Opus a good idea?

5'6" 110lbs, and mostly west coast and Utah. And as for the type of skiing, I do love big lines and throwing tricks here and there. I really like the playful style of Eric Pollard's skis. But I'm kind of torn between Magnum Opus or Mordecai.

agreed with b gillis, waist width is generally dictated by the type of skiing you do, and ski length will be more about your size and weight

im not much of a Line fan so i can't help much there but i think it was a good point that even pow days have lots of chop and crud to deal with

Get the fatties. In Utah you'll almost certainly encounter deep snow where you can make the most out of something ~ 120 under foot. Make the most of the deep days. This is a good time of year to buy pow skis so make sure to find a deal.

The mordecai comes in 179, 186, 193 and the Magnum Opus only comes in 188.

Is 188 way too long for me? Should I just get the Mordecai at 179cm? I mean I know for powder you'd go longer but is that much longer ok?

Yeah I wouldn't get a 188 at your size. Even a 179 is for sure on the larger side for someone like you.

188 would be huge on you. im 5'10 155lbs 3+ skier and a 188 would be nicely sized
