Im from Michigan and im traveling to france with my school this summer. All ive been hearing is how much french people, and just european people in general hate americans... is this true? and if i stand out as an american will people there just instantly dislike me, even before talking to me or anything?? just curious, thats all..

I HATE MOTHAFUCKIN AMERICANS!!!!. There you go dude. No just jk man, i presonally like the states and americans, but french ppl tend to generalise americans to the american government(that they dont support of course) and think theyre better than them , which sux and is completely dumb, but its pretty much the same trend everywhere in Europe. You will see this especially when you go to small town or villages. You should seriously put a canadian flag on your backpack or sumthin, I've also heard about americans being unwelcome in france recently. Americans also are the tourists that bring in the most money, which is just another senseless reason for french ppl to hate americans.

i went to spain on a school trip and stopped in france for my connecting flight, the french people with the exception of the stewardeses (cause they had to be) were kinda assholes, spain was very friendly though, there was no instances where anyone gave us shit, people actually bought us drinks and tried to speak english to us, i was suprised how accomidating they were, you hardly ever seepeople back at home being that nice to tourists

My experiences in France as an american is that they treat you very kindly, they don't patronize you if you don't know their language, they are just like everyday people who speak a different language. Thats all, but these are just my experiences from this Christmas, it might have drastically changed since then so don't take my word for it.

I think a lot of people share that view on Americans, just to fill you in. In most countries you go they will dislike you because you're American.
It's the majority of ignoran Americans that give everyone the bad vibe, you may not, but you can thank them for the reputation that they give the rest of America.

Its a missconseption that French people hate Americans. Alot of them hate Bush and the war in Irak but not Americans. just go there you wont have any problems unless you have a T-shirt saying 'yay war in Irak' or 'go Bush'
