Colorado is flat AF and not worth visiting. Montana I'll give a pass if you ski at Bridger.

eh, theres a vibe you get in UPSTATE, vermont,NH/maine that you dont get out west.

sure its super relaxed and everybodys having a good time out west..but theres something about the east coast that almost makes it better than west coast skiing. Idk nothing beats it. Moving to utah will make you a hell of a lot better skier for sure. But it doesnt have the same vibe you get on a -20 degree morning at killington.

Truuuuuue, its the same in MN we just have a close knit skate park sesh vibe always going that I've never fealt out west.

i second that. everyone knows each other. i myself ski squaw and sierra, but there is something special about that midwest/towrope/skatepark vibe

I've skied and worked at some of the biggest and smallest places in different regions. Different places have different vibes.

Getting out West is easy; staying there is a huge challenge. There are no paying jobs, rent is insane and food empties your pockets.

Still, for the quality of snow, the length of the seasons and the difficulty of the terrain...I love living out west.

this is true for colorado, california, and parts of oregon/washington. but i'll say right now, Idaho has some of the cheapest cost of living in the entire country. I work a part-time job and have plenty left over after bills to do pretty much anything i want within reason

parts of idaho are flat. Driggs is not. the panhandle is not. McCall is not. The Sawtooths sure as hell aren't.

Obviously this whole thread is a silly troll, but why would I ski Belleayre in the Catskills when I live i California? What would the point be?

I left Tahoe to get a real job in socal and ski 30-40 days a year at Mammoth. Obviously I don't love skiing quite as much as my buddies who stayed in Tahoe. I'm fine with that. Skiing is great, but at this point it is not the only thing in my life. When I lived in Tahoe my life revolved around skiing, not so much anymore. Skiing is a big part of my life in the winter, but I'm a weekender now.

Skiing out west is fun af, but this is too true. Most of the friends I've made out west are originally from the east coast though, so the vibe lives on

No. You are wrong. The Sawtooths are actually in Iowa. Idaho is all cornfields and skiing on garbage dumps with artificial snow. It really sucks. Move to Colorado or Jackson, but don't waste your money on this pit of a state.
