SFB for DD in PNW?

The SFBs would be a nice addition to the quiver for out there. I almost snagged a pair myself this winter but went in a different direction. Got a chance to take a few laps on a buddy's pair and found them to be fun all over the mountain from small jibs to side-hits. Wouldn't be my first pick for charging big lines as they can get a little chattery at high speed. Would not hesitate to grab a pair of these given the chance. Check out the Icelantic Nomad 105s as well, such a fun ski all over.

Ive heard the 15+ edition has become spineless with the new core, and the older models were better

I'm 6'3 and 185lbs...would i overpower the 190cm?

Imo you would. I tried my buddy's 190s he just got and I was able to butter them with ease and I'm only 5'9 165. Im in the PNW as well and depending on the skiing you do I'd recommend going with a two ski quiver (Something high 90s in waist and anoth 110-120). I can't really pinpoint a ski i used to use because I have like 7 skis rn but if you elaborate more on your style im sure alot of us could give you some suggestions.

I've ridden:

K2 hellbents 179- super fun and impossible to sink but too short
Armada jj 185- super agile but wayyy too twitchy and unpredictable
Norwalk 189- nice float but not slarvy enough for me
Magic j 190- seemed to be a healthy balance of stiffness compared to the armada but felt heavy

From the looks of this, we're looking at a high 180s daily driver to go alongside those 192 Chets which you should definately mount! The chets will be a super nice pow ski for you because they're surfy but stable, especially at a longer legnth.
Down here, im going to recommend a few skis which I personally found nice for your type of skiing so just check them out online and ask around for some specific reviews.

188 Moment PB&Js
- More jib oriented, 101 underfoot, rocker in tips and tails with a mid flex

191 Icelantic Nomad 105 (and 105 lites)
- hold good edge on all conditions, 105 underfoot with rocker in tips and tails, 105s have mid flex and the 105 lites have a slightly stiffer flex with lower weight due to carbon added in layup.

186 or 194 Moment Belafonte
- Most directional skis on the list, tip rocker and dropped tail for hard carving turns. Stiff, perfect for mobbing down the slopes and stomping cliff drops. Could potentially be hard to pop (i've never ridden them) but seem good for what you're looking for.

? 187 Moment Meridians ?
- Not too sure about these but i'll let you be the judge of that. Stiffer ski, 107 underfoot, and fully rockered. Reviews seem mixed but overall consensus is that they are surprisingly stable but hard to pop/butter due to a stiffer flex.

188 Atomic Automatic/Backland 102s
- The automatics are a good choice imo, about 7ish stiffness with 102 underfoot, rocker in tips and tails and camber underfoot. These are alot like the Nomads because they have a lighter and stiffer brother, the backlands. The backlands are the same exact dimensions but new for this year. They include carbon in their layup and give a stiffer flex but lighter overall.

185 or 192 Blizzard Cochise
Directional, stiff, chargy, dropped tail for pow performance, speed limit is infinate on these babies. Old verson of the cochise came in a 193 which may be worth a look-see

186 Blizzard Peacemaker
mid/stiff ski with 104 underfoot. overall solid reviews even though i've never ridden them. They look really fun as they are the little brother to the Gunsmokes which were pretty fucking awesome.

186 or 191 ON3P Kartel 98/108
Don't feel like i need to say much about these as they are some of the best skis out there. You can customize them as well to make them softer or stiffer and mess around with the topsheet, base, and sidewall design.


189 ON3P Wrenagade 98/108
Like the kartels but more charge oriented. Dropped tail for better off piste performance and more for the person looking to charge than do tricks. still able to jib very well and are super fun. You can customize them as well to make them softer or stiffer and mess around with the topsheet, base, and sidewall design.

191 Whitedot Director
Rarely people hear of whitedot but they're out there. the director is suuuuper similar to the Meridian as it is 107 underfoot, fairly stiff, and fully rockered. that being said, they are super loose and love to be slashy (check out blister gear review on these guys.)

189 Black Crows Atris
Stupidly stiff and damp but I thought id throw them on here. hard to pop but they are the suiper chargy and crud busters. 108 underfoot but you could probably manage them.


Those are just a few, im in school rn so ill probably be adding to this list throughout the day but thought i'd start off here. I have nothing against the bacons listed above but you may be able to overpower them so these may be sufficient replacements. I'm feeling pretty confident about some Praxis MVPs in a 193cm with a 3.5 flex

Check out the Moment Deathwish and the Icelandic Nomad 115. Would highly recommend the 115s as they are super light for a pow ski and nimble as hell while still coming up in a 191cm length

Can definitely second the ON3P Wrenegades. I ride the 98's as my daily driver but I ski back east mainly. I would think the 108 would be an awesome all mountain charger out west. Huge fan of ON3P's and their durability. Since you're looking for "the ski" - a ski that'll ski well for a few seasons - ON3P's are your ticket.
