freshiesbrahCan't afford new skis so I'm building some
AidanCskiThat's dope but I'm pretty sure building is like 3x more expensive than buying.
SessionPlans include custom Billygoats with flo green sidewalls and topsheet.

freshiesbrahWorks out to about half the cost as I have access to composites, good timber and necessary equipment.
GabbleVowWhere do you get your composites? I am thinking about making my own as well
freshiesbrahThrough a previous employer, my university and also online. There are shitloads of resources for this stuff, do some googling.
-eREKTion-You should post some pics of your press if you have it set up. I've often considered building a little garage shop as a hobby but the forums on skibuilders.com are full of advice on building $2000 presses which are a bit outside my price range.
freshiesbrahI'm not building a press for that exact reason. Presses are a complete waste of time, energy, space, and money if you're not building skis at scale. I have a fair bit of experience in composites and the best low-cost way to do it is to build a female mold and vacuum bag the laminate. My mold cost about $50 in timber and nails/screws and then you just need access to a vacuum pump (can be bought second hand relatively cheap) and the bagging materials (easily purchased online, not very expensive).
Here's pics of my progress so far: http://imgur.com/a/iRxAe
I just need to make up my cores and then I'm ready to lay the skis up.
