So I don't know if this made national news or not, I'm just aware of the situation because I have a friend that goes there. So what (apparently) happened was someone reported that a student who was black had a gun in a dining hall. Campus safety reported it as an active shooter situation, SWAT teams, lockdown, etc, turned out it was a glue gun.
According to my friend, and the articles written, the whole campus is freaking out, BLM protests, etc, some other racial tendencies of the school have appeared in the meantime.
I would consider myself to be a relatively liberal person, but in this situation, I just don't know. From what I've heard there's been a ton of misinformation, rumors, and whatnot since the situation started. And especially in a college setting, where shooters are typically young white males, is this definitely warranted as a race issue? Idk. Just want some other opinions.
