just got an email about this Level 9 sale that i'd be jumping on if i didn't already own and love a POC recepter backcountry MIPS. really good prices, for example that is on sale for $125

just wanted to let everyone know about this, some great deals on a very important piece of protection!

And in case that is misleading, that helmet is a top of the line model and is usually 250. There are plenty of other great helmets for cheap. No excuse to not protect your brain well

Also level 9 is legit. Okay end of PSA

i just got raider for like 35 and it looks better than poc imo, or just go no helmet thats cheaper

Fuck no.
POC is the safest thing you can wear on your head. And this deal is a steal for the quality.

POC is the safest thing you can wear on your head. And this deal is a steal for the quality.


just gonna say that hitting your head on a rail/snow using a POC or a different helmet most likely won't change the injury. a helmet literally only protects gashes and cuts on your scalp, internally the injuries will be the exact same so personally i'd go with style and price over their incredible safety they supposedly provide.

i love that youve gone from talking about the look and price of a helmet as the priorities, to acting like you know helmet technology and head physiology better than engineers and doctors

it's fine if you dont wanna wear a helmet but stop typing this nonsense^ here, im telling people about a great deal on a super important piece of equipment, take the "style" talk elsewhere (though it's worth noting that POC helmets are really popular even with us style-obsessed folk...they look great)

I think he's trying to get at that the effectiveness of mips is unproven, which it is. Helmets won't magically protect you from the collisions he stated, but if a helmet is the difference between a tbi life flight vs a bad concussion I know which one I'm choosing. If you don't wear a helmet it's none of my business, it's your brain.

if mips even reduces my risk of serious injury that could be avoided by even 5% over a traditional helmet I'm still satisfied with the price difference. The smith maze mips is a bomb helmet without the bells and whistles and reasonably priced non sale.
The POC deal is a great deal and thanks for posting it, I'm a huge fan of level 9.

I think that's giving him more credit than is deserved but I agree 100% with everything else you said. Yes it's unclear exactly what the safety difference is but what he said is absolutely false. Don't feel like going back to check but he said something to the effect of helmets only helping with cuts and scrapes haha

Yeah I didn't even think to garner that with a response but that's another benefit. the main reason to wear one is the foam inside which reduces the impact force and speed over a larger area. Stopping scrapes and puncture wounds I guess is an added benefit.

HA! I've hit a tree head on and broke my spine at T4/T5 and couldn't feel my legs. I would have died on the spot if it weren't for my helmet. Instead I had a mild concussion and the docs at U of U put me back together. Aside from a lot metal in my back and not being able to sense temperature/pain on my lower left side, I can still send it.

Materials matter.

I bet you wouldn't buy a pair of cheap intermediate carve skis and expect them to hold up the same as ON3P's. Again, materials matter. And so does your head.

If I were to give you the option of helmet or know while I smash you in the head with a steel pipe. What would you choose? And do you think that choice would make no difference between just getting some cuts, or having your skull caved in?
