Replying to Getting from San Francisco-Squaw/Conditions

So let me just preface saying that I know this should probably go in regionals, but I wanted a fairly timely response soo yaa... here we are

With that said, I'm going to be in San Francisco for a work related trip this weekend through early next week (from PA). I'm trying to find a way to get to the tahoe area to squeeze a day of skiing in while I'm relatively nearby. I can't go saturday so the Bay area ski bus is out of the question and I was thinking about renting a car. On google maps, the drive seems doable for a day trip but I don't know about any possible unforeseen circumstances that could inhibit getting there timely as I've never skied tahoe before. Or if there are any other ways to get there that you guys know about, that would be awesome

Also being an east coaster with the occasional trip to the rockies, my standards are pretty low, so I'm assuming the conditions are still good with the ridiculous amount of snow this year
