Are hammocks becoming popular?

I just got a Winner parachute double hammock and I'm in love. I got mine for pretty cheap, do you guys think these hammocks will become popular over the summer?

Hammocks were all the rage during my senior year of high school. I still bring my double with me everywhere.

They've gotten way more popular at my school over the last 2 years I've been here. I used to be one of the few that would hang it up on trees around campus but now the good spots are filled with hammocks every day

I bring my ENO hammock anytime there is even a remote chance I'll be outside. It doesn't take up any space and sets up in like a minute and beats sitting on the ground or in a chair.

When were they not popular. Are you talking about "trendy" with your group of friends? Hell if I know. I've had my travel hammock for years and it lives in my truck. Have one for the back yard and two more in the camper. Ya never know when it will be hammock season.

Pretty much this. Ive hung up my hammocks outside during lunch and in my astro class and like 30 kids in my grade bought them the next week. Stupid how trendy people are. Half of them don't even know how to set them up properly

If someone's hammocking they'll put it on their snap story with something stupid like"crazy outdoor lifestyle"

For some reason they definitely are becoming more popular right now. I got the ENO doublerest with suspension straps for one dollar with cash back from my REI credit card. So many of my friends are picking them up as well.

There are people on campus at my school that hammock in a graveyard. Not sure how I would feel about a 19 year old political science major writing about how America is destined to be a socialist country literally over my dead body.

That being said I love mine and use it whenever I can. They're great especially if you have friends that have them too and you can go on lil day hammock trips and what not

Like stringing the hammock up on grave stones/over the graves or using the trees off to the side in the graveyard?

They string them on trees suspended over a couple headstones on the corner of the graveyard. Its really no big deal and no one cares but it just irks me a little

If I had a family member in that graveyard I'd probably wonder wtf they are doing.
But I guess as long as they are respectful it doesn't hurt anyone on a physical level.

Or maybe they hanging out with a dead relative.

It's from a party my friend threw. The cops showed up and everyone ran down into the basement to hide but I knew they would check there so I went upstairs into my friends room and then they came upstairs so I hid in the bathroom, so I was forced to sit in the shower with the curtain pulled halfway until the cops left

I always have a little nylon hammock in my car and have a Hennessy Hammock for sub alpine hiking/camping. Hammocks are the shit.

Within the past two weeks, I've seen so many people suspending hammocks across campus at my school. They're everywhere from the woods outside of my dorm to right by the main pond on campus.

I've been also extremely tempted to buy one.

I'm the opposite. I get so little sleep if I'm camping on my sleeping pad but sleep like a baby in a hammock. However my sleeping pad is one of those shitty 1" foam ones.

i have an eno singlenest that was on sale at REI labeled as a double, so I think I might invest in something wider with a mosquito net and a fly this summer.

My freshman yr in hs circa 2012 mocking took off in mpls. I think we started the trend actually /passive claim. Anyways they ended up hiring security guards at the REI in bloomington for a while because kids would pull heists on like 100 Enos a day. Lol there was even a big community meeting in the park building near my house because all the neighborhood hoodlums would just take them straight out of ppls yards and the pta mommas were not having it. Personally I can't sleep in them (brought my hennessy hammock on my bike trip to maine last summer and was by far the shittiest part of the trip) but theres nothing better in the summer than heading over to the creek with some buddies, climbing up some trees, and hanging 40 feet over the creek
