Mt. Hood

Going out for a few weeks after school ends. Using a car to get there and camping out with a some other kids too. I've never been summer skiing, or camped for this long before. besides the basics like clothes/food/living arrangements, what should I make sure to have? So far I plan on bringing:

-multiple skis
-boot dryer
-waterproof bags
-2 pairs of snowpants
-sunscreen
- minimal cotton
-ski wax
-audio books for the drive
-lots of mittens/gloves
-drying rack/wire
-tarp


Hit me with any other important items I should bring.

OP assuming you are not a bum and have thought this through bring the boot dryer. Tarps will not dry your boots and liners can get wet even on a warm sunny day.

Some nice host/hostess gifts will go a long way.

Been hearing some things about the forest service cracking down on camping at the air strip/other areas, so be prepared to move your camp a few times over a multiple week period. Bring trash bags, big water jugs, keep everything clean, respect the forest.

bring something to cook on and stuff to prep food on. you will save so much money making sandwiches and cooking. make sure you keep the forest clean too

Yeah bring a small stove - I would recommend MSR Dragonfly or Whisperlight, some fuel for the stoves, and a pan and a pot. You can cook so many things if you have a stove, a pot, a pan, and some staple ingredients like flour, noodles, a couple spices, etc.

Boot dryer is a little extra i pull mine out after skiing every and their good for the next day .

Yea we are buying all of our food beforehand so we don't need to spend money out there. Also against littering so I got u.

id bring one anyway. its always better to have everything just incase other peoples plans change.

that's all fine and dandy but if has been raining for 3 days straight you will be hard pressed to gather dry wood to make a fire. firewood isn't cheap either.

also bring things to do on down days. there's no cell service in the forest and on rainy days it can get boring. a good book or two or some other off the grid ways to pass time may come in handy

you do have a point. We may be strategic and store some wood on dry days for just those occasions if we need to. I'm not bringing any technology with me except a dadcam for filming so I dont have a problem just chilling and reading like you said.

I'm down but not sure how to connect since I wont have any way to do that... Ill probably be rocking all black though so just shout out any people with that kit

Welcome to the rain. Buy tarps and find a place that will sell some fire wood for cheap. If you need ski wax I'm the guy.

I can't emphasize this enough: get on a regular pooping schedule so that you can be the first one at the rest stop bathrooms after they clean them in the morning.

So I went to Hood last may for a few days and stayed at friends house..this time we will be camping, probably for only 3 or 4 days. I assume there is a fucktun of snow at Gov Camp right now, you guys just lay down tarps over the snow/ dig out a little sleeping burrow? Also what's the best place to camp exactly? Wondering what has worked best for you guys in the past? Super stoked to head up there, hopefully will get to shred with some of yall

Don't scrape too much and wax every day if you can. P tex is also nice for if you hit any rocks.

Multiple goggle lenses might be a good idea.

Sunblock and multiple thin neckies would be smart.

Some mornings were like 20 but it gets hot throughout the day do I'd say layer up. I would also bring like 5 pairs of gloves or mittens. Skiing with wet gloves sucks.
