Shipping skis and boots

Hey guys, I am trying to ship skis and boots together to a guy in Maine.
Does anyone know of the best way to do this?

There was an episode of traveling circus where andy wrapped all his gear in cardboard and duct tape and used it as a checked bag. I'd imagine this in combination with ample amounts of bubble wrap at the tips and tails would survive the U.S. postal system. It may also make sense to use two separate boxes because of the different shapes.
