I am going to Africa this summer and plan to record literally everything to make an edit. I have the Panasonic g7 which has a micro four thirds mount with the 14-42 kit lens and I plan to buy another lens to take on the trip, but have no idea which lens would benefit me the most on this trip and when I come home. I'm not sure if I should get a long zoom lens or a short, fast cinematic lens. I am super interested in film so will need this to be a lens I use all the time. All I need is some suggestions on which PANASONIC lens I should get thank you.
Definitely go with a long lens. You have a 14-42, so aim for something like a 45-150. That way, you have a lotto range to use at your disposal. After that, get a fish or something wider for any chance where a 14 is too big.
I have a 45-150mm g vario f4-5.6 which I used when i started shooting with the gh4. Tack sharp, cheap, and a perfect telephoto for the m4/3rds system. I'm selling it so hit me up if you want to buy this on the cheap.
