What is it about halo that makes everyone think that it is such a great game? i honestly think that it one of the worst games ever made, next to whinney the poo video game. just dont understand these cult games...

the first halo was sweet, and so is halo2 but it gets boring after a while, sure is cool but it just turned dry for me after a while

I tried halo 2, and was impressed, but it doesnt live up to the hype. That game made 125 million on its FIRST DAY on sale in the states. I think americans need to sort out their priorities.

its not a cult game at all, there is no more mainstream game on xbox than HALO.
Its awesome because, its fun, the story is good, multiplayer is awesome, and its refreshingly original.

actually fahrvergcougar you're the retard. halo 2 sold 2.4 million copies the first day. at about $50 a piece, that adds up real quick so do the math. not to mention that lots of people paid more to preorder.

I sort of agree. It's a good game.. i enjoy playing it... but i dont think it's as amazing as most people make it out to be. I can't say it's particularly exceptional in comparison to other games out there. It's fun and shit but I agree with whoever said 'it doesn't live up to the hype'

exactly. my friends are so obsessed with that game. for instance, yesterday it was 50 degrees out and sunny( nicest day in a long ass time). and i walk into my friends house. hes inside playing that damn game. all i can say is 'you has no life'

I love the visual style - Chief's armour, weapons, the warthog, just about everything looks solid and really damn cool. Halo 2 did it even better.

I love the music - the original Halo theme rules, most of the game had pretty good music.

I love the gameplay - sticking grenades onto grunts and watching them fly. Sneaking up behind someone and smacking their head. The way you have to choose which 2 weapons to carry around. How the elites have the same recharging shield and weapons as you, so you really have to outsmart them. Speaking of out smarting...

I love the AI - crank it up to Legendary, and watch aliens take cover, flank you, and your fellow soldiers cover each other. Nothing else I've played does it so well. The game becomes a puzzle - How will I take down these 2 elites, that squad of grunts and that jackel in the corner with 2 plasma grendes and an almost empty shot-gun. If you like problem solving or puzzles, you will derive pleasure from solving each puzzle (aka killing everything in the room).

I love the multiplayer - Again, in no other game I've played is it so satisfying to run over your best friend in a jeep/tank/flying alien thing. And then your friend comes back to life, gets the active camo pickup and smacks you over the head with a pistol and you die and you laugh because you got killed by an invisible pistol.

I have played Battlefield 1942, it was pretty good.

I liked Halo's visual style better, and the way recharging shields mean you aren't fucked after a few bullets hit you - you can recover and fight back after a few seconds. The weapons feel better and more powerful as well - the sounds, the rumble in the controller, watching bodies fly and flail after a grenade explosion. Halo is totally fictional so it isn't really fair to compare them, but I have more fun firing dual plasma rifles then some little sniper rifle thing.

I haven't done much Halo multiplayer, but yeah, I enjoy playing against good AI or people.

I usually killed shot before finding a medic.

I'm not talking about how high the resolution is or how detailed the textures are. By style I mean the shapes, volumes, and colours that make Halo look distinctively like Halo and Battlefield look like Battlefield, or any other game look like any other game.

Another reason so many people love Halo is that they and 3 friends can sit on one bigass comfy couch and explode each other. And then drink beer, eat pizza and play more. Then punch each other or try rip the controller out of the winners hands. Even they don't appreciate all the nerdcore technology and art we see, they are still having fun sitting on a couch exploding each other. You can't get that with a PC game (LAN Parties are not the same), and there aren't a lot of console games that anyone can pick up and have fun with. There are so many copies of Halo out there that most people who are interested know how to play already anyway.

halo is better than any of the game you mentioned in just about every catagory. it has an original story line, sweet ass graphics, insane multiplayer( it doubled the # of people on xbox live n the first week) and the gameplay itself is better and fighting the ai isnt like shoting fish in a barrel

actually one of the biggest things that pissed me off about halo is that when you do a split screen, you can hardly see anything. and perfect dark is still the best console fps out there to date. i think that the sequal on the xbox will be better than halo...

and battlefield can have about 50 players on one map, which greatly exceeds that of halo. those games are massive online multiplayers. 8 on each team just doesnt suffice, try it when there is 25...

Halo 2 was disappointing in one major aspect - storyline
It didn't follow the story i know yet, maybe 3 will bring it back but Halo2 Campaign was the most disappointing thing in video games this year. Halo also lost its feel in the guns. After playing Killzone Halo doesn't compare when it comes to firing a gun. Halo = plastic bb guns. Killzone sounds as if everybullet is going to make a crater in the ground. So in the end, the campaign mode lost it's great story (though the elite part was so-so) and the weapons lost their feel. ALSO Halo2 is missing that good all around weapon. It wasn't until halo2 that i wanted the Assault Rifle back. I badmouthed it before but it is convenient. the BR doesn't compare, and the SMG is weak as one, and chews ammo up as 2. This turned in to a rant
